UNESCO Creative Cities Network
- Kozhikode, a city nestled in the picturesque landscapes of the Indian state of Kerala, has recently achieved a global milestone by securing a position in the prestigious UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
- This distinguished honor was announced on World Cities Day, along with Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, which was acknowledged as a ‘City of Music’.
- Kozhikode’s newfound title as the ‘City of Literature’ signifies a significant breakthrough, solidifying its position as the first Indian city to earn this esteemed recognition.
- The UNESCO Creative Cities Network is a coalition of cities worldwide renowned for their unwavering dedication to incorporating culture and creativity into their developmental agendas.
- These cities are lauded for their innovative approaches to urban planning, which prioritize the well-being of their citizens.
- With the addition of Kozhikode and Gwalior, the network now encompasses 350 creative cities across more than 100 countries, encompassing seven distinct creative fields: Crafts and Folk Art, Design, Film, Gastronomy, Literature, Media Arts, and Music.
India Assisted Development Projects In Bangladesh
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina today jointly inaugurated three Indian assisted development projects through video conferencing.
- The three projects are Akhaura – Agartala Cross-Border Rail Link, Khulna – Mongla Port Rail Line, and Unit – II of the Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant.
- Mr Modi said that India’s partnership with Bangladesh is a key aspect of its Neighbourhood First policy and Government is dedicated to further strengthen it.
- It is a matter of happiness that they have come together to celebrate the success of India-Bangladesh cooperation.
- Mr Modi said, there has been remarkable progress in India-Bangladesh relations and it is touching new heights. He said, the work which has been done together in the last nine years was not done even in the decades before this.
- Prime Minister said, since 2020, parcel and container trains are also running between India and Bangladesh. The world’s biggest cruise, Ganga Vilas, between India and Bangladesh, tourism has been boosted.
- In her address, Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina said, there is firm friendship between India and Bangladesh. She paid homage to sacrifice of people of India during 1971 war of Liberation.
World Food India 2023
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the ‘World Food India 2023’ on November 3rd at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
- The three-day event is being organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries to showcase the rich Indian food culture to the world. The theme of World Food India 2023 is “Processing for Prosperity“.
- Secretary of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries Anita Praveen said over 1200 exhibitors from 23 states and several countries will participate in the event.

India’s First Wifi6 Ready Broadband Network

Annual Report On Road Accidents In India
- The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has recently unveiled its “Road Accidents in India-2022” Annual Report.
- The report reveals a worrisome surge in road accidents in India during the calendar year 2022, emphasizing the need for comprehensive measures to address this growing crisis.
- According to the report, a staggering total of 4,61,312 road accidents were reported across various States and Union Territories in India during 2022.
- These accidents resulted in a tragic loss of 1,68,491 lives and caused injuries to 4,43,366 individuals. The figures represent a distressing increase of 11.9% in accidents, 9.4% in fatalities, and 15.3% in injuries when compared to the previous year.
International Counter Ransomware Initiative
- A coalition of 40 countries, led by the United States, is set to sign a pledge committing to never pay ransoms to cybercriminals and work towards disrupting the funding mechanisms of hackers.
- This initiative, known as the International Counter Ransomware Initiative, seeks to address the growing threat of ransomware attacks worldwide.
- The primary goal of the alliance is to disrupt the funding mechanisms of ransomware criminals.
- This will be achieved through improved information sharing about ransom payment accounts.
- Two information-sharing platforms will be established, one by Lithuania and another jointly by Israel and the UAE.
- Partner countries will collaborate on sharing a “black list” through the U.S. Department of the Treasury, containing information on digital wallets used for ransomware payments.
- The initiative will leverage artificial intelligence to analyze blockchain data, aiming to identify and track illicit funds associated with ransomware attacks. This effort aligns with the broader objective of cutting off the flow of money to cybercriminals.
“One Nation, One Registration Platform”
- The National Medical Commission (NMC) has initiated a mission to allocate a distinctive identification number to every physician in the country by the conclusion of 2024.
- Central to this endeavor is the establishment of the National Medical Register (NMR), which will function as a centralized repository for all practicing doctors in India.
- This step is anticipated to streamline the healthcare sector and bolster transparency.
- A trial run for the National Medical Register (NMR) is scheduled for launch within the next six months, with the complete implementation set for completion by the end of 2024.
- Dr. Yogendra Malik, a member of the Ethics and Medical Registration Board of the NMC, shed light on this ambitious project.
- The NMR will supersede the current Indian Medical Register (IMR) and will be publicly accessible through the NMC’s official website.
- It will provide comprehensive information about registered doctors, including:
- Unique Identification Number (UID): Each doctor will receive a unique identification number.
- Registration Number: The doctor’s registration number for verification.
- Name and Place of Work: Details concerning the doctor’s identity and workplace.
