Indian Art Architecture & Design Biennale

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first Indian Art, Architecture and Design Biennale at Red Fort in New Delhi.
  • On the occasion, he will also inaugurate Aatmanirbhar Bharat Centre for Design at Red Fort and the student Biennale- Samunnati.
  • IAADB is being organized in line with the PM’s vision to develop and institutionalise a flagship global cultural initiative in the country.

  • IAADB is designed to initiate a holistic conversation between artists, architects, designers, photographers, collectors, art professionals and the public to strengthen the cultural dialogue.
  • During the one-week-long event from the 9th to the 15th of this month, different theme-based exhibitions will be showcased every day.
  • It will also provide avenues and opportunities to expand and collaborate with the creators of art, architecture, and design as part of the evolving economy.

Naye Bharat Ka Samveda

  • Former President of India, Ram Nath Kovind launched a book “ Naye Bharat ka Samveda” in New Delhi.
  • The book is a compilation of speeches of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Indian Constitution.
  • In his keynote address, Mr. Kovind said that, if every citizen of the nation has adequate knowledge about the Constitution then everything will be easy.

  • He further added that the citizens will be able to understand that makers of the constitution were concerned about the last person of the society.
  • Speaking about the book, Mr. Kovind said that PM Modi repeatedly recalls the Constitution and urges people to know as much as possible about it.
  • He added, Prime Minister refers to the Constitution of India as the only book for code of conduct and guidance for the government.

India’s Goods Sector Surpasses Services In Exports

  • The government has said that Goods (Merchandise) sector has surpassed the services sector in export for the first time.
  • Electronic and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, this has been possible due to the Make in India initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • He said, the export has reached 762 billion dollars in the last financial year. The Goods (Merchandise) export has gone upto 453 billion dollars, while services export was at 309 billion dollars. Mr Vaishnaw said India will soon reach one trillion dollar exports.

  • The Minister said, the export of mobile phones has reached the 4th position in overall exports due to Make in India.
  • The country has exported mobile phones worth more than eleven billion dollars in the last fiscal.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched Make in India initiatives to promote manufacturing the sector in the country. India will soon reach the top two positions in the exports of mobile phones.

Garba Of Gujarat Inscribed On The UNESCO

  • The Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage inscribed ‘Garba of Gujarat’ on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity during its 18th session, taking place in Kasane, Botswana.
  • The inclusion of Garba now makes it India’s 15th inscription on the List.

  • A ritualistic and devotional dance performed throughout the State of Gujarat, and across India, Garba is celebrated for nine days during the festival of Navaratri.
  • The festival is dedicated to the worship of the feminine energy or Shakti.
  • The cultural, performative, and visual expressions of this feminine energy are expressed through the Garba dance.
  • The performative and visual celebration of Garba takes place within homes and temple courtyards, public spaces in villages, urban squares, streets, and large open grounds. Garba thus becomes an all-encompassing participatory community event.

National Mission For Manuscripts

  • The National Mission for Manuscripts has documented 52 lakh manuscripts and conserved 90 million folios across the country.
  • Union Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy said this in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha.
  • The mission has uploaded one lakh 25 thousand manuscripts on its cloud platform, out of which 75 thousand manuscripts are available for research purposes on public domain.

  • Mr Reddy said, the objective of the Mission is to locate manuscripts through national level Survey and Post-Survey.
  • The objective of the mission is also to promote access to manuscripts by digitizing the rarest and most endangered manuscripts.

  • Amidst the global efforts to combat climate change, two remarkable individuals, Michelle Zárate Palomec from Mexico and Sebastian Mwaura from Kenya, are set to be honored as winners of the UN Global Climate Action Awards.
  • Their outstanding contributions, aimed at creating sustainable, resilient, and equitable communities, will be celebrated during the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference COP28 in Dubai.

  • Meghalaya’s Lakadong turmeric, known for its exceptional quality, has been granted the prestigious Geographical Indication (GI) tag.
  • Agriculture Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh made the announcement, highlighting the positive impact on local farmers and authentic product access for consumers.
  • Considered one of the finest turmeric varieties globally, Lakadong turmeric boasts an impressive curcumin content ranging from 6.8 to 7.5 percent.
  • Grown organically in the Lakadong area of Jaintia Hills, this turmeric is renowned for its dark color, and cultivation is carried out without the use of fertilizers.

  • Alongside Lakadong turmeric, three more products from Meghalaya were honored with the GI tag: Garo Dakmanda (traditional dress), Larnai pottery, and Garo Chubitchi (alcoholic beverage).
