PM Modi Honored With The Order Of Excellence
- Prime Minister, Narendra Modi conferred with Guyana’s highest national award, The Order of Excellence, for his visionary statesmanship, championing the rights of developing countries on the global stage, exceptional service to the global community and for his commitment to strengthening India-Guyana relations.
- In a ceremony at the Guyana’s State House, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana conferred this award upon the Prime Minister.
- Mr Modi dedicated the honour to the people of India and to the deep-rooted historical ties between the people of the two countries.
- He emphasized that his State visit is testament to India’s continued commitment towards deepening India-Guyana friendship.
- The Prime Minister said that India-Guyana relations are based on shared history, cultural heritage, and deep mutual trust between both nations. Mr Modi said that India is also ready to work shoulder to shoulder with Guyana in every field. He said the cooperation of both countries is not only important for bilateral relations but also for the entire global south.

Mr Browne Announced Support For India’s Permanent Membership Of The UN Security Council.

India And Guyana Sign Ten Agreements
- India and Guyana have signed ten agreements to enhance cooperation in several areas including health, hydrocarbons, agriculture and allied sectors. The Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) were signed on cooperation in the field of medical products, Janaushadhi scheme, Cultural Exchange Programme, deployment of UPI like system in Guyana and cooperation and collaboration in field of broadcasting between Prasar Bharati and National Communications Network, Guyana.
- Besides, MoU was also signed between National Defence Institute, Guyana and Rashtriya Raksha University, Gujarat.
- In a joint statement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India and Guyana agree that dialogue and diplomacy should be used to resolve all issues. He said, both the countries are unanimous that reform of global institutions is the need of the hour.
- Mr Modi said, climate justice is a shared priority for both nations, and they will continue to strive for progress in all areas. Mr Modi highlighted that India is an important source of pharmaceutical products for Guyana and India will also work on setting up Jan Aushadhi Kendras in that country.
- Prime Minister Modi noted that Guyana is associated with various initiatives taken by India, such as the International Solar Alliance, the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, and the Global Biofuel Alliance.
- President of Guyana, Dr. Mohammed Irfaan Ali said, the discussion held with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not only fruitful but also reinforced their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and the collaboratively address regional and global concerns. He said, Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Guyana represents a significant milestone in enhancing cooperation between the two countries. He commended Mr Modi’s governance style, noting their relevance and adoption in Guyana and other nations.
Dominica Award Of Honour
- Commonwealth of Dominica has bestowed its highest national honour – the Dominica Award of Honour, upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi. President of Dominica Sylvanie Burton confered the Award in recognition of Prime Minister Modi’s contributions to Dominica during the COVID-19 pandemic and his dedication to strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
- Mr Modi said, he is honoured to be conferred with highest national award by Dominica. He dedicated it to the 140 crore people of India.
- He said, India and Dominica are two democracies and together are role models of women’s empowerment for the world. Mr Modi said, it is a matter of deep satisfaction that India was able to help the people of Dominica during a pandemic like Covid-19.
ICC Issues Arrest Warrants For Netanyahu
- International Criminal Court, ICC has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defence chief, as well as a Hamas leader, Ibrahim Al-Masri, for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.
- The move comes after the ICC prosecutor Karim Khan announced on May 20, that he was seeking arrest warrants for alleged crimes connected to the October 7th, last year attacks on Israel by Hamas and the Israeli military response in Gaza.
- The ICC said, Israel’s acceptance of the court’s jurisdiction was not required. Israel has rejected the jurisdiction of the Hague-based court and denies war crimes in Gaza.
- Israel has said, it killed Al-Masri, also known as Mohammed Deif, in airstrike but Hamas has neither confirmed nor denied this.
International Solar Alliance
- Armenia has become the 104th full member of the International Solar Alliance. Armenia handed over the Indian Solar Alliance Instrument of Ratification during a meeting between its Ambassador to India, Vahagn Afyan, and the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs, Abhishek Singh, in New Delhi.

- Science and Technology Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the Viksit Bharat Initiative for Student Innovation and Outreach Network (VISION) in New Delhi.
- The initiative is aimed at nurturing education, skill development, and innovation among underprivileged children.
- Minister lauded the entrepreneurial vision behind the initiative and its focus on democratizing opportunities for students across the country. He emphasized how the portal could act as a gateway for those in remote areas to access mentorship and training. Further, the Minister said that reaching out to underprivileged youngsters helps democratize StartUp skills.
- He also highlighted the country’s journey in startups, biotechnology, and space. Mr. Singh also said that initiatives like VISION are integral to realizing the country’s aspirations under Vision India 2047, which aims to position India as a global leader in technology, education, and economic growth.
First Indigenous Antibiotic Drug Named Nafithromycin
- Union Minister of Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh has launched the first indigenous antibiotic drug named Nafithromycin for resistant infections.
- Addressing the event in New Delhi, Mr Singh said that the three-day treatment regimen of Nafithromycin is a game-changer against drug-resistant pneumonia, a condition responsible for over two million deaths worldwide annually.
- The minister added that after 2014, researchers received the right kind of support to explore their potential.
- Dr. Singh stated that Prime Minister’s personal intervention has made the task far more easier now. The Made in India Antibiotic Nafithromycin has been developed with the support of Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), a unit of the Department of Biotechnology and has been brought to market under the trade name Miqnaf.
- It is the country’s first indigenously developed antibiotic aimed at tackling Antimicrobial Resistance-AMR.
Prasar Bharati Launches Its OTT Platform- WAVES
- National Public Broadcaster Prasar Bharati has launched its OTT platform, WAVES. It was unveiled at the opening ceremony of the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.
- WAVES, while catering to the growing demand for digital streaming services, aims to revive nostalgia while embracing modern digital trends.
- WAVES features timeless shows like Ramayan, Mahabharat, Shaktimaan, and Hum Log. The platform will connect audiences with India’s cultural and emotional heritage.
- WAVES also includes news, documentaries, and regional content, promoting inclusivity and diversity. WAVES caters to diverse audiences with content in over 12 languages and over ten genres.
- Its expansive library includes regional content, women-centric content, and even animation content, along with live channels including Doordarshan and Akashvani.
- WAVES also has LIVE events like the Prabhu Shriram Lalla Aarti LIVE from Ayodhya and the monthly Mann ki Baat by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The upcoming US Premier League Cricket Tournament will also be carried LIVE on WAVES from tomorrow.
- Among several other features, WAVES will provide video on demand, free-to-play gaming, radio streaming, live TV streaming, 65 live channels, several App in App integrations for video and gaming content, and online shopping through Open Network for Digital Commerce supported e-commerce platform.
US Vetoes UN Resolution Calling For Ceasefire In Gaza
- US has vetoed a UN resolution demanding an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza. The resolution, supported by the other 14 members of the UN Security Council, also demanded the unconditional release of all hostages.
- However, the US opposed the resolution, stating that it failed to address the release of hostages. The other 14 members of the UN Security Council voted in favor of the resolution. They expressed their disappointment over its failure to pass. This is the fourth ceasefire resolution the US has vetoed since October 7 last year.
Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar
- Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will confer the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for the years 2022 and 2023 at a function in New Delhi.
- A total of 82 young artists will be honoured with the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar.
- Sangeet Natak Akademi instituted the award in the name of Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan for young performing arts practitioners up to the age of 40 years in 2006.
- The aim of this award is to encourage and motivate young artists in the fields of music, dance, drama, folk and tribal art forms, and other allied performing art forms of the country.
- The award is given annually to outstanding young artists in the fields of music, dance, drama, folk and tribal arts, and puppetry in a special ceremony held in Delhi and also outside Delhi. The Yuva Puraskar carries a cash award of 25 thousand rupees, a plaque, and an angavastram.
Bihar To Host Khelo India Youth Games & Para Games
- Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has announced that Bihar will host the Khelo India Youth Games and Para Games in April next year.
- He said Bihar has recently showcased its capability to host major sporting events like the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy hockey.
- Dr. Mandaviya said the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to bring the Khelo India Games to every corner of the country. The Minister said sports will play a pivotal role in realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
- He said Bihar is an integral part of the Ministry’s plans to develop infrastructure and provide support to athletes from the grassroots level. There are 38 Khelo India Centres in Bihar and one Khelo India State Centre of Excellence catering to athletes at all levels.
