Battery Swapping Facility Quick Interchange Service inaugurated in Chandigarh

  • Indian Oil has signed a non- binding Strategic cooperation document with M/s Sun Mobility to explore setting up of Energy infrastructure for Electric vehicle through Battery Swapping model across Indian Oil Retail outlets in select cities.
  • Indian Oil intends running a Pilot and offering SMPLs (Smart Mobility Proprietary Solutions) to support and service vehicles comprising of e-rickshaws, e-karts and e-bikes, and e-auto rickshaws.
  • Up to 20 to 25 quick interchange stations in select cities across India.
  • It is the best alternative to slow charging and helps the drivers to make optimum use of the operational hours.
  • The battery swapping model is initially targeted at the commercial segment, i.e., electric autos, rickshaws and electric 2W also and the electric vehicle which is either factory fitted or retrofitted.

Citizens with mild or medium colour blindness to also obtain Driving License

  • The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued a notification for amendment to the FORM 1 and FORM 1A of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989.
  • Now restrictions only on the severe colour blind citizens from driving.
  • This is also allowed in other parts of the world.

Nominations for Sardar Patel National Unity Award-2020 extended

  • It is extended till 15th August 2020.
  • About the award– A notification instituting the Sardar Patel National Unity Award was issued by Ministry of Home Affairs on 20th September, 2019.
  • Government of India has instituted the highest civilian award in the field of contribution to the unity and integrity of India, in the name of Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel.
  • Features-
    • The award will be announced on the occasion of the National Unity Day, i.e. the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel on 31st October.
    • The Award shall consist of a medal and a citation.
    • No monetary grant or cash award shall be attached to this Award.
    • Not more than three Awards shall be given in a year.
    • It shall not be conferred posthumously except in very rare and highly deserving cases.

  • The announcement was made by the Federation of International Football Associations.
  • It will also be the first women’s world cup edition to feature 32 teams.
  • The FIFA Women’s World Cup, like the men’s World Cup, takes place every four years.

  • NITI Aayog Launches Behaviour Change Campaign, ‘Navigating the New Normal’
  • Focus-
    • A web portal, containing resources informed by behavioural science and the use of nudge and social norms theory, related to Covid-safe behavioural norms during the ongoing Unlock phase.
    •  A media campaign focused on the wearing of masks.
