DG of Resettlement Inks MoU With Private Sector

Directorate General Resettlement under the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence signed an MoU with IBM to engage ex-servicemen and to facilitate their seamless integration into the civilian workforce.
As part of this association, IBM aims to bridge the gap between military service and civilian employment, by providing veterans with exciting opportunities for professional growth and personal development. DGR and IBM will collaborate, on a continuous basis, to identify ex-servicemen with skillsets and aptitudes suitable for various open positions within the company.
It is notable that during the past year, from April 2022 to March 2023, 24,234 Ex-servicemen received gainful employment in various sectors. In order to maintain a youthful profile of the Armed Forces, approximately 60,000 service personnel are retired/released every year at comparatively young ages.

L&T Technology Services & Thales Sign Joint Commitment for a Low-Carbon Future

During the 2023 Paris Air Show, L&T Technology Services Limited a global leading pure-play engineering services company, signed a letter of intent with Thales, a global technology leader in the areas of defence and security, aeronautics and space, and digital identity and security, agreeing to work together to tackle climate change in their respective value chains.
Thales is working with its strategic suppliers to achieve its CO2 emissions reduction targets for 2030, which have been validated by the SBTi and are compatible with the objectives of the Paris Agreement:
– a 50% reduction in absolute CO2 emissions related to its operational processes (Scope 1) and energy consumption (Scope 2)
– a 15% reduction in absolute CO2 emissions related to its supply chain and the use of its products by customers (Scope 3)
Thales aims to achieve net zero operations-related CO2 emissions (Scopes 1 and 2) by 2040.

US Department of Defence has announced an additional security assistance package, valued at up to USD 500 million, for Ukraine to meet its “critical security and defence needs.
