DRDO Successfully Flight-Tests 4th Gen VSHORADS
- DRDO successfully conducted three flight-tests of the 4th Generation, technically-advanced miniaturised Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) at the Pokhran Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan.
- The tests were carried out against high speed target, demonstrating very critical parameters of maximum range and maximum altitude interception.
- VSHORADS is a Man Portable Air Defence System designed and developed indigenously by Research Centre Imarat (RCI) in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories and DcPPs. The three Services have been associated with the project right from the beginning and participated during the developmental trials.
Long Range Training Deployment Of First Training Sq
- INS Tir, Shardul and Indian Coast Guard Ship Veera of First Training Squadron (1TS) of the Indian Navy on long range training deployment arrived at Muscat, Oman on 05 Oct 24. The port call further signifies strengthening of existing defence relations between India and Oman in maritime domain.
- The deployment will also focus on training exchanges, professional interactions and friendly sports fixtures between the two Navies. In the last ten years, this is the third visit of 1TS to Muscat, Oman.
- Recently, the 6th edition of Indian Navy and Royal Navy of Oman Staff talks were held in Jun 24 at New Delhi. The visit of 1TS and CINC, SNC further cement bilateral relations between the two friendly nations.
NSA Ajit Doval visits National Defence College
- National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on Saturday visited the National Defence College, New Delhi as Chief Guest of the valedictory function for the International Strategic Engagement Programme (IN STEP).
- Notably, the maiden programme of INSTEP was conducted from March 18-30, where NSA Ajit Doval emphasised the importance of strategic partnerships in regional security at the International Strategic Engagement Programme (IN STEP) programme, explicitly curated as a two-week strategic engagement at the NDC New Delhi under the aegis of National Security Council Secretariat and MEA.
- “In an era characterised by rapid technological advancements, geopolitical shifts and evolving threats the need for collaboration and knowledge sharing amongst decision-makers is even more critical. The shared options that could be explored through mutual respect and dialogue hold the potential to strengthen international security cooperation and build resilient communities,” said Doval.
Maritime Exercise ‘Malabar 2024’
- Maritime Exercise Malabar 2024 is set to commence on October 8 in Visakhapatnam. The exercise, which is hosted by India this year, will also have participation from Quad nations, which include Australia, Japan, and the US.
- The exercise will take place in two phases, beginning with the Harbour phase in Visakhapatnam, followed by a sea phase.
- Notably, Exercise ‘Malabar’, which began in 1992 as a bilateral naval drill between the United States and the Indian Navy, has now evolved into a key multilateral event aimed at enhancing interoperability, fostering mutual understanding, and addressing shared maritime challenges in the Indian Ocean and Indo-Pacific region.
Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu Landed In New Delhi
- Maldivian president Mohamed Muizzu landed in New Delhi on Sunday for his first State visit to India.
- As per media reports in the Maldives, Muizzu, his wife Sajidha Mohamed, and a high-level delegation of Maldivian government officials traveled on a special flight arranged by the Indian government, a gesture reserved for such visits by Maldivian presidents.
- During his visit from October 6-10, Muizzu will meet PM Narendra Modi, external affairs minister S Jaishankar and other top ministers to discuss various bilateral, regional, and international issues.
Egypt Welcomes French President’s Call To Halt Arms Exports To Israel
- Egypt welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron’s call to halt exporting arms to Israel intended for use in Gaza, citing the serious violations of international law and international humanitarian law committed by the Israeli military in both the strip and Lebanon.
- French President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed Sunday his country’s “unwavering commitment” to Israel’s security in a phone call with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while insisting on a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.
- “On the eve of the first anniversary of the Hamas terrorist offensive against Israel, he expressed the solidarity of the French people with the Israeli people,” the French presidency said.
- Israel is engaged on several fronts, waging war against Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon, where it has been conducting ground operations since Monday. It has also threatened to retaliate against a massive missile attack by Iran last Tuesday.
