India Selects American Engine For Light Tanks

  • India has selected American company Cummins for supply of engines for indigenous light tanks, urgently needed to counter Chinese deployments in high altitudes.
  • The project to develop a light tank was approved last year, and Larsen and Toubro worked with Defence Research and Development Organisation to make a prototype. However, the project ran into trouble after a German firm, selected for engine supply based.
  • The Light Battle Tank project is a crucial endeavor for the Indian defense forces, aiming to provide a state-of-the-art armored vehicle capable of addressing the unique challenges posed by high-altitude regions, such as the Ladakh sector along the China border. The indigenous 1000hp engine, currently under development, is expected to be the final powerplant for the production version of the tank.

Indian Army Wins Gold Medal In Cambrian Patrol 2023 Military Exercise In UK 

  • The Indian Army won a gold medal at the Cambrian Patrol Competition 2023 International Military Exercise in Wales, UK.
  • A team from 3/5 Gorkha Rifles (Frontier Force) represented the Indian Army at the prestigious Cambrian Patrol Exercise in Wales, UK, the Army said.
  • The Indian Army team participated in the event and competed against a total of 111 teams, which included 38 international teams representing special forces and prestigious regiments from around the world.
  • In the year 2021, the Indian Army also won a gold medal at the Cambrian Patrol Exercise held in the UK while competing against 96 teams including 17 international teams representing Special Forces and prestigious Regiments from around the world.

NSG To Develop National-level IED Management Software                                          

  • The National Security Guard is in the process of developing national-level Improvised Explosive Device management software to facilitate national and select international partners, dealing with IEDs to be connected and share relevant inputs in real-time, the Director General of NSG MA Ganapathy said.
  • He was speaking at the two-day seminar that concluded on Friday and organised on ‘Sub-conventional threats: challenges and prospects for definite and enduring solutions’ at DRDO Bhawan in Delhi.
  • The seminar aimed to find some enduring solutions to sub-conventional threats from each other’s experiences and recommend an effective and synchronised response mechanism by the responders at all levels. It also aims to build synergy between Defence Forces, CAPFs, State Special Forces, ATS, and Investigation Agencies to deter any terror incident.

ARMY CHIEF PRESENTS THE PRESIDENT’S COLOURS              

  • General Manoj Pande, the Chief of Army Staff presented the prestigious ‘President’s Colours’ to the Third Battalion of the Naga Regiment during an impressive Colour presentation parade held at Kumaon Regimental Centre, Ranikhet (Uttarakhand) on 13th October 2023.
  • After reviewing the parade, the Army Chief appreciated the rich traditions of the Naga Regiment in all spheres of military activities to include operations, training and sports. The COAS also complimented the newly raised unit for their remarkable performance within a short period of time and conveyed his best wishes to all ranks to serve the Nation with pride.

IAF On Standby To Bring Back Indians from Israel

  • The Indian Air Force has kept its aircraft on standby in case there is a requirement to bring back Indian citizens from Israel amidst the war with Hamas, Indian Air Force officials said.
  • IAF transport aircraft fleet includes the C-17 and IL-76 heavy-lift transport planes along with the C-130J Super Hercules Special Operations aircraft which have been used in the past for such evacuation operations.
  • “Operation Ajay” was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring back around 18,000 Indians in Israel amidst the war between Hamas and Israel. Registration of Indians began on Thursday.
