Jammu and Kashmir: Two Soldiers Killed, Two Injured In Gunfight

  • Kishtwar (Jammu and Kashmir): Two army soldiers were killed in a gunbattle with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district.
  • The White Knight Corps confirmed the news on X, along with pictures of the soldiers.
  • Two other Army soldiers were also injured in the encounter and are undergoing treatment.
  • Security has been heightened in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar following the encounter between security forces and terrorists in the upper reaches of Naidgham village.
  • Thakur Rangeel Singh, a local resident of the area, speaking to ANI, said, “Around 3-3:30 we got to know that an encounter broke. We got to know that four of the Indian army soldiers had been injured. The situation is quite tense here, and the area has been cordoned off by the Indian Army.”

Third Edition of INDUS-X Summit

  • The third edition of the INDUS-X Summit concluded in the United States, marking  a progress in the advancement of a joint defence innovation ecosystem in India and the USA.
  • Held on 9-10 September 2024, the Summit was a landmark event jointly organised by the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) and Stanford University.
  • During the summit, a MoU was signed between iDEX and the Defence Innovation Unit (DIU) under the US Department of Defence, to increase co-operation in defence innovation and deepen collaboration to facilitate industry, research, and investment partnerships among the stakeholders.

2nd Consecutive Flight Test of VLSRSAM

  • DRDO and the Indian Navy have conducted back-to-back successful flight tests of the Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VLSRSAM).
  • The second consecutive test was conducted on September 13, 2024, from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, Odisha.
  • The missile intercepted a high-speed aerial target, flying at a very low altitude and simulating a sea-skimming threat, which showcased its precision and capability to neutralise targets.

EW CONFERENCE “SPECTRUM” 2024

  • Base Repair Depot Najafgarh, New Delhi successfully conducted EW Conference “Spectrum” on 13 Sep 24. The theme of the conference was “EW: Trends, Technologies & Maintenance Challenges”.
  • AOC-in-C brought out the importance of Electronic Warfare as one of the main pillars of Air Strategy and highlighted the need of developing and sustaining the EW systems indigenously with the participation of Indian academia, DPSUs and Indian Private Industries.
  • Many Academicians, Scientists from IITs, DRDO, DPSUs and industrial partners from defence equipment manufacturing industries participated in the conference. Officers highlighted the work being done by the depot and the support that is needed from other agencies.

Field Firing Trials of Indian Light Tank ‘Zorawar’

  • DRDO on September 13, 2024, successfully conducted the preliminary automotive trials of the Indian light Tank, Zorawar, a highly versatile platform capable of deployment in high-altitude areas.
  • During the field trials conducted in the desert terrain, the Light Tank demonstrated exceptional performance, efficiently meeting all the intended objectives. In the initial phase, the tank’s firing performance was rigorously evaluated and it achieved the required accuracy on designated targets.
  • Zorawar has been successfully developed by the Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE), a unit of the DRDO in collaboration with Larsen & Toubro Ltd.

7th National Security Strategies Conference – 2024

  • Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah inaugurated the two-day National Security Strategies Conference – 2024 in New Delhi today.
  • Prior to the inauguration, Union Home Minister laid a wreath at the Martyrs column and paid homage to the valorous martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
  • In order to implement the decisions taken during the annual DGsP/IGsP Conference chaired by PM Modi, Union Home Minister today launched the DGsP/IGsP Conference Recommendations’ Dashboard developed by the NCRB.
  • With the objective of finding solutions to major National Security challenges through discussions amongst a unique mix of senior police leadership managing national security challenges, young police officers working at the cutting-edge level and domain experts of specialised fields.

India’s Priorities in SCO Shaped By PM’s Vision of SECURE

  • In the 23rd meeting of Ministers from the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal noted that India’s priorities within the SCO align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘SECURE’ SCO, which stands for Security, Economic Development, Connectivity, Unity, Respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, and Environmental protection.
  • He also emphasised the SCO’s importance in the global economic landscape, congratulating Pakistan for its Presidency of the SCO Heads of Government and welcoming Belarus as a new member.
  • The 23rd meeting of Ministers of SCO responsible for foreign economic and foreign trade activities was held under the chairmanship of Pakistan.
