In a significant development aimed at enhancing military training through technological integration, the 39 Gorkha Training Centre (GTC) in Varanasi has formalized a collaborative partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) BHU. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration focused on driving innovation and technological advancements in defence training.
The agreement was executed by Brig Anirban Datta, Commandant of the 39 GTC, and Prof Rajesh Kumar, Dean of Research and Development at IIT (BHU). The momentous occasion was witnessed by Maj Gen A S Sohal, General Officer Commanding of the Purva UP & MP Sub Area, along with Prof Amit Patra, Director of IIT (BHU).
This strategic partnership is designed to facilitate joint projects and enhance knowledge sharing between the military and academic sectors. The collaborative efforts will concentrate on harnessing emerging technologies to elevate operational effectiveness and improve the overall Agniveer training program. By bridging gaps between military practice and cutting-edge research, the MoU aims to create an innovative environment that is expected to bolster India’s defence capabilities significantly.
In fostering this unique interaction, both institutions are looking to promote a culture of technological advancement that not only benefits military training but also encourages research contributions to the defence sector.
