Because this year marks the 25th anniversary of the IAF’s strategic alliance with France, the IAF travelled to France to take part in the upcoming 14 July parade, which will involve formation fly-overs by military aircraft and helicopters over Paris.

France invites more nations to participate in the “Quatorze Juillet” festivities each year. India has a key role this year. In the second configuration, three Rafales will fly alongside a single French Rafale, immediately following the opening by the Patrouille de France.

The Indian Rafale aircraft and crew are mostly comprised of the Indian Air Force’s No. 101 Squadron “Falcons” headquartered at Jalpaguiri / Hashimara Air Force Station (AFS) in the state of West Bengal, as well as the Aircraft & Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE). The latter is India’s Air Force testing unit, with headquarters at Bangalore/Yelahanka AFS.
