India has categorically rejected Pakistan’s accusations connecting it to a deadly suicide attack on a school bus in Khuzdar, Balochistan, which occurred earlier today. The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of three children and two adults. Following the attack, Pakistan’s military media wing asserted that the incident was “planned and orchestrated” by India.
In a forceful rebuttal, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, through spokesperson Shri Randhir Jaiswal, labeled the allegations as “baseless.” The ministry accused Pakistan of engaging in a habitual blame game aimed at diverting attention from its internal crises. Jaiswal stated, “In order to divert attention from its reputation as the global epicenter of terrorism and to hide its own gross failings, it has become second nature for Pakistan to blame India for all its internal issues.”
The attack specifically targeted a bus carrying students to an army public school in Khuzdar. As of now, no militant group has claimed responsibility for the assault, although the region has been plagued by violence from separatist groups, notably the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which has a notorious history of launching similar attacks.
While India extended condolences to the victims’ families, it criticized Islamabad for politicizing the tragedy. Jaiswal cautioned that Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to mislead the international community with unfounded assertions would likely fail, particularly as global awareness of Pakistan’s history of harboring terrorist organizations continues to grow.
This diplomatic confrontation comes against the backdrop of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. In April 2025, a terror attack in Indian-administered Kashmir resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, a tragedy for which India attributed responsibility to militants based in Pakistan. Subsequently, India launched missile strikes on May 7 targeting alleged terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. In response, Pakistan reported 31 civilian casualties from the strikes and vowed to retaliate.
The Khuzdar incident falls within the longstanding framework of Pakistani claims that India is interfering in Balochistan. India has repeatedly denied such allegations and has consistently highlighted Pakistan’s record of supporting terrorism against India, including the infamous 2008 Mumbai attacks.
Analysts believe that Pakistan’s immediate blame-shifting could be an attempt to minimize focus on its internal issues, which include widespread unrest in Balochistan and ongoing economic challenges. In 2024, Pakistan secured a $7 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund as it grappled with soaring inflation and fiscal distress.
India reiterated its demand for Pakistan to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure operating from its territory, a call supported by the international community.
