Indian Army and the Indian Air Force conducted a joint Airborne Exercise near the enemy territory for deep strike missions. The combined exercise was conducted to deploy paratroopers equipped with next-generation weapon systems in support of mechanised troops deep inside enemy territory in order to facilitate and improve the operational reach of their own forces.
Indian Army-Air Force Joint Airborne Exercise
Indian Army’s Shatrujeet Brigade and the Western Command conducted a combined exercise with the Indian Air Force along the western border on Thursday. The combined exercise was conducted to deploy paratroopers equipped with next-generation weapon systems in support of mechanised troops deep inside enemy territory in order to facilitate and improve the operational reach of their own forces.
Various Aircraft like C-130J Super Hercules, C-17 Globemaster, and AN-32 aircraft were employed to insert personnel and specialised equipment into selected spots in the obstacle-ridden terrain with clinical accuracy.
Significance of the Exercise
The exercise was carried out in realistic tactical settings and showcased the speed, agility, and lethality of the paratroopers to induct into a hostile environment, secure dropping zones, and engage the enemy with surprise, precision, and speed. A high level of operational preparedness and synergy was displayed between Western Command, strategic forces, and the Indian Air Force to undertake integrated operations in an obstacle-ridden terrain.
