On Friday, retrofitted Electric Gipsies were displayed during the ongoing Army Commanders Conference in New Delhi. When the Indian Army Cell, IIT-Delhi, and a start-up called Tadpole Projects collaborated on this project, these refitted vintage Military Gipsies were converted into electric vehicles.

“According to the Tadpole Projects website, the start-up does the work, which includes removing the engine and converting the vehicle to an electric one.” It claims it extends the vehicle’s life by seven years, provides a two-year warranty on the engine, and a five-year or three-year warranty on the battery, which is extendable up to 5-7 years.”
The ACC is being held in a hybrid format for the first time, utilizing available technology for secure communication, in which Army Commanders and other senior functionaries will meet virtually on the first day and then travel to Delhi for balanced physical meetings on matters requiring detailed deliberation. Jawaad Khan founded the start-up nurtured by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Delhi in 2020, which handles EV retrofitting.
