Speaking at the seminar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated, “Though research and development (R&D) is a risky venture because it requires out-of-the-box thinking and sometimes does not yield desired results, it remains one of the basic elements for any country’s development.” As a result, capital expenditure in R&D becomes necessary.”

Multi-Legged Equipment (Mule)

Multi-utility legged equipment (MULE) was one of the exhibits at the symposium. The four-legged apparatus is sleekly designed and equipped with cameras and radars.

The device, which has a payload capacity of 12 kg, can be used on Wi-Fi or Long-Term Evolution (LTE). Wi-Fi may be utilised for short distances, however, LTE can be used for distances up to 10 km from a remote position. The MULE is controlled by a simple remote control. It’s a machine with an analogue face. Thermal cameras and radars, for example, can be connected to the MULE. Not only that, but it can also include a firing platform.

Pre-fed missions can be uploaded to the system to communicate what mission is to be done, whether by waypoints or other means. It can also be used in any terrain, including snow and mountains. It can climb mountains at up to 45 degrees and steps as high as 18 cm without difficulty.

Aryan Singh, R&D Engineer at ARC Ventures, told news agency ANI, “We can generally use it in the case of first contact.” For example, if we know our enemy is in a room but don’t know where they are inside, we can utilise the MULE’s 360-degree cameras to infiltrate the room. The operator will locate the enemy inside the room, and the firing platform will be used to shoot him down.”
