The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Indian Army’s Rising Star Corps recently conducted a comprehensive review of operational preparedness within the Tiger Division, which is stationed in the sensitive border areas of Jammu. This inspection comes in the wake of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly following a spate of recent cross-border drone incidents that have intensified security concerns in the region.
During the visit, the GOC took the opportunity to engage directly with frontline troops, commending their unwavering dedication and the commendable performance exhibited during various operations. Additionally, he held discussions with veterans from the area, paying homage to their enduring legacy and service to the nation. The review placed particular emphasis on assessing the unit’s capabilities in countering emerging security threats, with a notable focus on the integration of modern technology within tactical operations.
A significant aspect of the inspection was a live demonstration showcasing advanced unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems. This signals the Indian Army’s strategic emphasis on drone-assisted reconnaissance and rapid response capabilities. The rising utilization of drones in the region has evolved the technological landscape of border surveillance and engagement for both India and Pakistan, with reports suggesting that India is developing swarm drone tactics to maintain a competitive advantage.
Furthermore, the GOC’s visit coincided with ongoing civil-military cooperation efforts under Operation Sadbhavana, a program dedicated to fostering goodwill and building trust in Jammu and Kashmir. As part of this initiative, the Army has established 53 English-medium Goodwill Schools, benefitting over 14,000 students. Additionally, partnerships with organizations like the Pritam Spiritual Foundation have resulted in the provision of artificial limbs to more than 3,100 civilians who have been affected by conflict.
The presence of the Rising Star Corps commander underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to maintaining a state of combat readiness while concurrently engaging in humanitarian efforts.
