Indian Army Launches Search Operations After Suspicious Movement Detected Near LoC in Jammu and Kashmir

Indian Army troops engaged in gunfire after spotting suspicious movement near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, prompting extensive search operations throughout the region. The incident unfolded in the Chingus area of the Keri sector, where three to four individuals were observed maneuvering stealthily under the cover of the forest.

The engagement resulted in more than two dozen rounds being fired, and drones were subsequently deployed in an effort to track the suspected infiltrators. Despite these efforts, the initial search yielded no signs of the individuals in question. Consequently, authorities initiated coordinated search operations across over a dozen locations in Poonch district, including areas such as Surankote, Mendhar, Sari, Pathankhor, Chandimarh, and Kallar-Gursai.

These operations were spearheaded by security teams, which comprised the Special Operations Group (SOG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Rashtriya Rifles. Simultaneously, police and paramilitary forces conducted searches in several border villages in the Kathua and Samba districts, including Bein Nullah, Chak Dhulma, and Chakra. However, as of the latest reports, no arrests had been made.

The escalation in security measures is particularly noteworthy as preparations ramp up for the annual Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to commence on July 3. In Udhampur, Senior Superintendent of Police Amod Nagpure led a high-level briefing to evaluate security arrangements along the pilgrimage route, focusing on surveillance, traffic management, and coordination with disaster response teams. Officers were directed to provide comprehensive support to pilgrims while maintaining stringent vigilance to ensure the Yatra proceeds safely amid rising security concerns.
