Mahindra recently used Twitter to communicate some great news. The renowned Indian car manufacturer, recognised for its close connections with the Indian military services, stated that the Indian Army has placed an order for around 2,000 Mahindra Scorpio Classic vehicles. The Indian Army, in particular, has placed an additional order for around 1,850 units of Mahindra’s renowned SUV, the Mahindra Scorpio Classic.
Mahindra Scorpio Classic Indian Army Details
Mahindra’s relationship with the Indian military stretches back to 1947 when the business began its automotive activities by building the Willys Jeep for the Indian military. Mahindra has been actively delivering cars to the Indian Army since then. This recent development strengthens their long-standing collaboration, emphasising Mahindra’s goods’ confidence and trustworthiness.
The Mahindra Scorpio Classic, famed for its toughness and versatility, has emerged as a popular choice for a variety of military applications. Its strong performance and off-road characteristics make it ideal for difficult terrain and tough activities. With this new purchase, Mahindra reaffirms its commitment to producing high-quality vehicles that meet the Indian Army’s specific needs. This declaration emphasises Mahindra’s continued commitment to serving the Indian armed services and contributing to national defence. Mahindra contributes significantly to the Indian Army’s mobility and operational capabilities by routinely supplying vehicles that fulfil tough military criteria.
As Mahindra continues to deepen its ties with the Indian armed forces, the business maintains its position as a significant participant in the country’s defence and automotive sectors. The 2,000-vehicle order, which includes the Scorpio Classic, is another key milestone in Mahindra’s cooperation with the Indian Army, cementing the company’s status as a dependable and trusted producer of military-grade vehicles.
Mahindra Scorpio Classic Indian Army Specifications
The Indian Army now uses a variety of vehicles, including the Tata Safari, Tata Xenon, Force Gurkha, and Maruti Suzuki Gipsy. The addition of the Mahindra Scorpio Classic will strengthen the Indian Army’s capabilities. Mahindra is expected to equip the Scorpio Classic with a 44 powerplant, probably based on the previous generation’s 2.2-litre engine that produced around 140 horsepower. The Scorpio Classic is now powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 130 horsepower and 300 Nm of peak torque. It has rear-wheel drive and a 6-speed gearbox, but no automatic gearbox or four-wheel drive.
Under the hood of the Scorpio Classic, Mahindra has made major alterations. The new engine is 55 kg lighter than the previous generation. According to Mahindra, the engine produces 230 Nm of torque from as low as 1,000 rpm, and fuel efficiency is predicted to improve by 15%. The transmission now uses cable-shift technology, which reduces vibrations and produces shorter, more positive gear shifts.
Furthermore, the Scorpio Classic’s suspension arrangement has been improved and returned. To improve body roll control, Mahindra installed MTV-CL dampers on all four struts. The SUV now has cruise control, automatic climate control, cornering lighting, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a sunglass holder, diamond-patterned cloth upholstery, and more.
