In a significant display of military innovation and readiness, Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, attended Exercise Rudra Shakti–2026, where the Black Mace Brigade showcased a variety of New Generation Equipment (NGE) and New Technology Equipment (NTE). This landmark exercise represents a critical evolution towards technology-driven warfare, positioning the Indian Army for future challenges.
The event highlighted cutting-edge advancements, including sophisticated drones and loitering munitions, alongside homegrown innovations such as drone jammers and AI-enhanced systems for enemy drone detection. These developments underscore a pivotal shift in the Indian Army’s capabilities, reflecting accelerated initiatives towards self-reliance, or Atmanirbharta, and the quick absorption of advanced technology as part of the Army’s Decade of Transformation strategy.
During the exercise, Lt Gen Seth observed live demonstrations of kamikaze drone strikes and the deployment of precision munitions executed by platforms developed in-house. These displays illustrated not only enhanced stand-off lethality but also a significant increase in battlefield dominance and the ability to tackle emerging threats across various conflict levels.
In his remarks, Lt Gen Seth commended the brigade’s commitment to innovation and highlighted the importance of rapid technology integration and the development of indigenous capabilities. He emphasized that these efforts are essential for creating a force that is not only future-ready but also equipped to handle the complexities of high-intensity, multi-domain warfare in an evolving security landscape.
