This success is a testament to the Indian Army’s commitment to modernizing its operations through the integration of advanced technologies as part of its ongoing “Year of Tech Absorption” initiative, which is aligned with the ambitious “Decade of Transformation” roadmap for defense modernization spanning from 2023 to 2032.
The prize distribution ceremony took place on April 7, 2025, and was attended by General Upendra Dwivedi, the 30th Chief of the Army Staff (COAS). General Dwivedi, who has been pivotal in promoting the incorporation of niche technologies within the army, personally presented the awards to the winners. His leadership since taking over as COAS on June 30, 2024, has marked a significant shift towards embracing digital transformation, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency across the forces.
Joining General Dwivedi at the ceremony was Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, the Army Commander of the Jaipur-based Sapta Shakti Command, who expressed his pride in the accomplishments of the command’s personnel. Taking charge on July 1, 2024, Lt Gen Singh acknowledged the hard work and commitment of all ranks in achieving this notable success, stating, “This success reaffirms our commitment to seamless absorption of new technologies and operational excellence.” His remarks emphasized the command’s critical role in progressing the Indian Army’s digital transformation agenda.
The triumph in the competition follows recent efforts by the Sapta Shakti Command to enhance its technological capabilities, which included the innovative Drone Warfare Competition held at the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in March 2025. Such initiatives are part of the broader goal of promoting self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat program, which seeks to develop indigenous solutions tailored to the challenges posed by modern warfare.
The event also underscored the Indian Army’s relentless pursuit of modernization in line with the “Year of Reforms” announced by the defense ministry for 2025.
