As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is arriving in France for the National French Day on 14th July, Indian Armed Forces and its contingent is preparing to send its personnel along with Indian Air Force Fighter aircraft to take part in the Bastille Days which is also known as National French Day.
French National Day Parade 2023
Every year, the French National Parade is held in Paris which is to commemorate Bastille Day on the 14th of July. This year that is the year 2023 will also commemorate 25 years of Indo-French Bilateral relations and strategic partnership.
The Indian Military Contingent most probably from the Indian Army and a fighter aircraft contingent of the Indian Air Force will be deployed to take part in the flypast event. The French Air and Space Force is planning to field its Rafale Combat Multi-role Aircraft in the parade which is also in the Inventory of the Indian Air Force. India is also expected to send a Jaguar Fleet in the parade which is also French-designed and which joined the Indian Air Force in the 1980s with significant numbers.
French President Francois Holland visited India in 2016 to take part in the Republic Day Parade of India when the French also sent its contingent to take part in the parade. At that time, the French contingent comprising 56 personnel of the 35th Infantry Regiment of the 7th Armoured Brigade had come. The soldiers of their regiment were deployed in India between 1781 and 1784. The contingent was preceded by pipes and drums comprising 48 musicians.
It is expected that India will be sending the contingent from the unit which had a history of fighting in the French area during the world wars. Sending contingents and being called a Guest in an annual Parade of a country is seen as the image of that particular country in the Global world. Such actions also add to the strategic partnerships of any country.
