India's Airports on High Alert Amid Terror Attack Warning

All airports across India have been placed under heightened security measures in response to an intelligence advisory warning of a possible terror attack. This alert is specifically indicated to occur between September 22 and October 2, 2025. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has communicated urgent directives to various stakeholders including state police departments, airport operators, and airlines to significantly bolster security and surveillance measures throughout the aviation sector.

The advisory, issued on August 4, encompasses not only major international and domestic airports but also includes airstrips, helipads, airfields, flying schools, and aviation training institutions. Intelligence sources indicate that this alert is based on specific information regarding the activities of a known terror group operating from Pakistan. In light of this intelligence, the BCAS has mandated that all relevant agencies enhance their coordination with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Intelligence Bureau, local law enforcement, and other security organizations to ensure that any new intelligence is promptly shared and acted upon.

In response to the alert, security protocols have been intensified across all civil aviation facilities. BCAS has instructed continuous patrolling of airport terminals, parking areas, perimeters, and other sensitive locations, ensuring round-the-clock vigilance. There will also be an increase in security checks on the cityside of airports, in conjunction with local police forces. Furthermore, all domestic and international airlines are required to implement stringent screening procedures for cargo, mail, and parcels before they are loaded onto aircraft.

The advisory emphasizes the necessity for rigorous identification verification processes for all personnel, contractors, and visitors accessing aviation points. Additionally, all closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems are required to be fully operational and monitored at all times. The BCAS has underscored the critical need for maintaining a high level of readiness and preparedness throughout the duration of the security alert.

With these enhanced security measures, India’s aviation sector is mobilizing resources for an extensive security drill aimed at neutralizing any potential threats, thereby ensuring the safety of passengers, airport personnel, and national infrastructure during this period of increased vigilance.
