INS Agrani Celebrates Completion of CPO Management and PO Leadership Courses for 292 Trainees

INS Agrani, a leading institution in leadership training for the Indian Navy, recently celebrated the successful completion of its Chief Petty Officer (CPO) Management and Petty Officer (PO) Leadership courses on April 9, 2025. The event, reviewed by Commodore Manmohan Singh, the Commanding Officer of INS Agrani, marked the end of a comprehensive training program for 292 trainees, which included two international participants from Malaysia.

This ceremony underscored the Indian Navy’s dedication to enhancing leadership and management skills among its personnel. The CPO Management and PO Leadership courses are specifically designed to empower naval officers with essential skills for excelling in their responsibilities, thereby ensuring operational effectiveness and sound decision-making, particularly in demanding situations. The involvement of foreign trainees highlights the Indian Navy’s expanding cooperation with allied naval forces, aimed at fostering mutual learning and strengthening maritime relationships.

During the ceremony, Commodore Manmohan Singh took the opportunity to honor exemplary trainees by presenting them with awards that acknowledged their commitment and exceptional performance throughout the courses. A formal parade by the trainees illustrated their discipline and rigorous training, embodying the high standards maintained by INS Agrani. The event was set against a backdrop decorated with naval insignia on the campus in Coimbatore, which serves as a premier hub for leadership training under the Southern Naval Command.

Since its inception, INS Agrani has played a pivotal role in shaping the training framework of the Indian Navy, concentrating on the cultivation of leadership qualities among both officers and sailors. Commodore Singh, who took command in June 2022, has been a driving force in enhancing the training programs at the institution, perpetuating its legacy of excellence. The Southern Naval Command, based in Kochi, supervises INS Agrani as part of its broader responsibility as the Training Command of the Indian Navy, ensuring that personnel are well-prepared for both foundational and advanced operational challenges.
