Preeti Yadav has taken charge as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Noida Zone-1 in the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate, becoming the first woman officer to hold the post. The appointment was announced on October 30, 2026, and came as part of an administrative reshuffle ordered by Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh.
Yadav, a 2019-batch officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, replaces 2018-batch IPS officer Saad Mian Khan. According to the report, Khan has been moved to the Agra Commissionerate after serving in Gautam Buddh Nagar for more than four years.
Born on April 10, 1996, in Rewari, Haryana, Preeti Yadav grew up in a family closely linked to policing. Her father, Mukesh Yadav, began as a constable in the Chandigarh Police and later advanced through the ranks. The article says that seeing him in uniform inspired her to choose a career in public service.
Her academic record has also been highlighted. She scored 96.2 per cent in her Class 12 humanities examination and later completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Geography, where she reportedly emerged as a university topper and received a gold medal.
Yadav then left her postgraduate studies to focus fully on preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination. She cleared the exam in her first attempt at the age of 22, securing All India Rank 466, and was selected for the Indian Police Service. She formally joined the service on August 26, 2019.
After training, she started her career as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. She later held several policing responsibilities and, before this new posting, worked in the Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissionerate on matters related to women’s safety, cybercrime and public security.
The report also notes that Yadav has been recognised for her service. She received the Director General’s Commendation Disc (Silver) on Republic Day in 2023, and in 2025 she was awarded the Mahila Shree Samman by Noida Lok Manch.
Apart from her official duties, Yadav is said to have interests in painting, art and travelling. She is described as a composed and approachable officer, with experience that is expected to be useful in handling the policing needs of Noida Zone-1.
Her new role places her in charge of an important urban policing zone within the Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissionerate, where maintaining law and order, preventing crime, ensuring public safety and addressing citizens’ grievances are key responsibilities.
From being inspired by her father’s police service to clearing the UPSC Civil Services Examination at 22, Preeti Yadav’s rise marks a notable milestone for the commissionerate. Her appointment as the first woman DCP of Noida Zone-1 is being seen as a significant moment for the district police setup.
