In a recent interview, Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated that the nation’s military actions against Iran have successfully postponed the Islamic Republic’s potential to develop nuclear weapons by “at least two or three years.” His comments were reported by the German newspaper Bild on Saturday.
Saar elaborated on the offensive, mentioning that Israel has targeted numerous nuclear and military sites, resulting in significant casualties among top Iranian commanders and nuclear scientists. He emphasized that these efforts have yielded “very significant” results in curbing Iran’s nuclear ambitions. “According to the assessment we hear, we already delayed for at least two or three years the possibility for them to have a nuclear bomb,” he noted.
Highlighting the strategic importance of Israel’s military operations, Saar stressed that the elimination of key figures responsible for advancing Iran’s nuclear program is a critical achievement. He asserted that Israel will continue its efforts to mitigate the nuclear threat posed by Iran. “We already achieved a lot, but we will do whatever we can do. We will not stop until we will do everything that we can do there in order to remove this threat,” he stated.
In response to Israel’s military actions, Iran has conducted drone and missile strikes, asserting that it is not pursuing nuclear weapons. Despite the ongoing conflict, Saar clarified that the Israeli government’s goal is not to initiate regime change in Iran but rather to address the nuclear threat.
