Israel’s Ministry of Defense has introduced a revolutionary mobile application designed to enhance access to rehabilitation services for military personnel suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, mental health issues, or head injuries. The new app, named “Shikum.Me,” aims to streamline the process of utilizing available treatment resources for eligible users.
Developed by the Rehabilitation Division of the Ministry, Shikum.Me features a built-in digital wallet, allowing users to access their annual treatment allocation without the hassle of out-of-pocket expenses, receipt submissions, or waiting for reimbursements. This user-friendly platform connects individuals to over 5,000 specialists and various service providers, making it easier than ever to find and book complementary medical treatments.
The application offers a wide range of therapeutic options, including acupuncture, massage, yoga, music therapy, gyms, running groups, and water sports. Users can easily check the availability of providers, view service ratings, track their remaining balances, and schedule appointments directly through the app. To ensure inclusivity, a dedicated support center is available to assist those who may need help with technology or do not own smartphones.
Starting in January 2026, approved users will receive an initial allocation of 72,000 digital coins within the app, equivalent to 6,000 new shekels or approximately $1,888 per year. In order to facilitate a smooth transition to the new system, the Ministry of Defense has instituted a three-month adjustment period, running through March 2026. During this time, users will still have the option to submit receipts for complementary treatments, up to a limit of 1,500 new shekels (around $472).
From April 2026 onward, all redeemable services will be fully integrated into the mobile application. Sarit Kidron, the deputy head of the Rehabilitation Division, expressed that the creation of this app stemmed from an attentive approach to the needs of injured individuals, emphasizing the Ministry’s commitment to assisting them in accessing their entitlements more easily.
