JEE Main 2025 Session 2 Begins On April 2: Paper Pattern, Key Guidelines

The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) (JEE Main) Session 2 for 2025 is set to commence on April 2, with Paper 1 for Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and Bachelor of Technology (BTech) candidates being conducted on April 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8. Meanwhile, Paper 2, which focuses on Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) and Bachelor of Planning (BPlan), is scheduled for April 9.

Admit cards for the initial exam dates of April 2, 3, and 4 have already been released, and students can download their hall tickets from the official National Testing Agency (NTA) website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates are reminded that the hall tickets must display a visible QR code and barcode. The release of admit cards for the subsequent exam dates on April 7, 8, and 9 is anticipated to occur shortly.

As the exam dates approach, candidates are urged to closely follow the exam day guidelines. They are required to check the dress code and read the instructions listed on their admit cards diligently. A critical requirement is that candidates must carry a photo ID identical to the one uploaded during their online application process, as it will be used for identity verification.

Candidates are advised to arrive at their designated examination centers at least two hours before the scheduled start time of the exam. They must take their seats promptly upon entry to avoid missing crucial announcements. The NTA has clarified that delays due to transportation issues, including traffic congestion or public transport delays, will not be validated, and the responsibility for timely arrival falls on the candidates.

At the examination centers, it is imperative that candidates present a printed version of their admit card when requested by the exam authorities. Entrance into the exam hall will be strictly prohibited for those without valid admit cards and recognized photo IDs. Each candidate will receive a specific seating assignment that corresponds to their roll number, and any deviations from assigned seats can result in cancellation of their candidature. Furthermore, candidates must confirm that the question paper visible on their computer matches the subject indicated on their admit card. Discrepancies should be immediately reported to the invigilator.

Certain items are explicitly prohibited in the examination hall, including typical stationery (geometry boxes, pencil cases, papers, and books), electronic devices (mobile phones, calculators, or any gadget with a calculator function), bags, and food or beverages.

Candidates are required to bring several critical documents on exam day to be granted entry to the test center. These documents include a printout of their admit card along with a self-declaration (undertaking) printed on A4-size paper, a passport-sized photograph that matches the online application picture for the attendance sheet, and a valid photo ID from an accepted list. Acceptable IDs include various government-issued cards, school IDs, and bank passbooks, among others. Additionally, candidates should carry a simple transparent ballpoint pen.

Regarding rough work, candidates will be provided with rough sheets at the test center for any calculations or notes. It is crucial to return these sheets to the invigilator before leaving the examination hall.

In terms of the JEE Main 2025 exam pattern, Paper 1 (for BE/BTech aspirations) will cover three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Each subject consists of two sections: Section A, which includes 20 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), and Section B, comprising 5 numerical value-based questions, totaling 75 questions for a cumulative score of 300 marks.
