Lockheed Martin Secures $4.76 Billion Army Deal for PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement

Lockheed Martin has secured a significant contract with the US Army worth $4.76 billion for the production of PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) missiles along with associated equipment and support services. This firm-fixed-price agreement is primarily backed by foreign military sales amounting to $4.49 billion, complemented by an additional $265 million sourced from US Army funds aimed at boosting stockpiles and enhancing military readiness.

The manufacture and delivery of these systems will take place in various locations across the United States, including Huntsville, Alabama; Clearwater, Florida; and East Aurora, New York. The contract is expected to be completed by June 30, 2030.

The PAC-3 MSE represents an advanced variant of the Patriot air and missile defense system’s PAC-3 interceptor. It is equipped with a dual-pulse rocket motor that increases its range and maneuverability while incorporating advanced hit-to-kill technologies. This makes the system effective against a range of threats, including ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as aircraft and uncrewed aerial systems. The PAC-3 MSE is currently utilized by several US allies, such as Bahrain, Poland, and Ukraine.

The growing global demand for these missiles has motivated Lockheed Martin to significantly ramp up production. The annual output has been increased from 600 to approximately 2,000 missiles, following a major deal with the Pentagon reached earlier this year.

To facilitate this substantial production expansion, Lockheed has joined forces with a network of international partners, including Diehl Defence from Germany and several Spanish firms such as Tecnobit‑Grupo Oesía and Sener. These collaborations are aimed at strengthening the supply chain to meet the enhanced needs of the military market.
