On May 16, 2023, the AF Auditorium in New Delhi hosted the National Logistics Management Seminar, LOGISEM – 23, with the topic ‘Leverage Emerging Global Supply Chain to Enhance Logistics Capabilities While Absorbing Disruptions’. The Seminar was opened and keynoted by Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of the Air Staff.

“Global supply chains have become increasingly complex and interconnected, driven by the manuscripts of international trade and advances in technology,” stated the Chief of the Air Staff in his address. The defence industry is not immune to this tendency. To keep its combat capability at its peak, the IAF relies largely on worldwide supply chains to deliver key components, equipment, and services. The world has recently witnessed numerous and diverse disruptions such as the COVID-19 epidemic, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, trade barriers, tariff conflicts, and environmental compliance rules. Such incidents have exposed the supply chain’s susceptibility to disruption.” “To mitigate such disruptions, emerging trends such as digitisation, automation, and data analytics should be leveraged to enhance IAF logistics capabilities,” he added.
During the Seminar, notable Speakers deliberated and discussed problems related to the Seminar’s theme for three hours. The topics covered included the domestic aviation industry’s future prospects, new developments in supply chain management and warehousing, and public procurement activities through GeM. The Seminar provided an excellent forum for the exchange of ideas between civil and military logisticians, and it is expected to help the IAF fit its supply-chain requirements to new technologies and worldwide trends. The Seminar was also live-streamed throughout the IAF.
