Lieutenant General Nagendra Singh, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Chetak Corps, conducted a visit to the Laalgarh Jattan Military Station to evaluate the readiness of operational units under the Teevra Tirasi Brigade. This visit allowed Lt Gen Singh to engage with military personnel across various ranks, during which he praised their professionalism and commitment to their duties.
During his interactions, Lt Gen Singh highlighted the critical need for continuous training and the integration of cutting-edge technologies at sub-unit levels. He stressed that embracing technological advancements is vital for sustaining operational superiority in the context of modern military engagements.
The Chetak Corps, based in Bathinda, Punjab, has a revered history of operational excellence dating back to its formation on July 1, 1979. Lt Gen Singh, who took command as the 34th GOC of the Chetak Corps on January 1, 2024, comes with an extensive and decorated background in the military. A product of the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun, he also attended the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington and the National Defence College in New Delhi. His military service began in the Punjab Regiment in 1989, and he has amassed a wealth of operational experience, receiving notable honors including the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal, and Sena Medal for Gallantry.
Under Lt Gen Singh’s leadership, the Chetak Corps is focused on embracing technological innovations and maintaining rigorous training protocols. This commitment aims to ensure that all units are thoroughly prepared to confront both current and future challenges effectively.
