The aircraft exhibited 18 arrested landings and Ski Jump take-offs from INS Vikramaditya in January 2020, including hot refuelling capability, according to the company. Most recently, TEJAS-Navy engaged in carrier testing from INS Vikrant, doing 10 Ski Jump take-offs and arrested landings on February 6, 2023. It was also announced that TEJAS-Navy had performed the historic feat of being the first indigenous fighter aircraft to land on the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant.

Significance: Tejas Navy Trainer

TEJAS-Navy is outfitted with cutting-edge technologies like as a fly-by-wire flight control system, a glass cockpit, and modern mechanical systems. The aircraft may be flown both during the day and at night. Advanced hands-free ski jump take-off and landing flight control modes are included. TEJAS-Navy Prototypes are carrier compatible and can carry out combat missions using Air-to-Air weapons.

Tejas Navy Trainer

TEJAS-Navy can potentially serve as an effective training platform for Indian Navy pilots for aircraft carrier operations. The new prototype NP5 will shortly begin field and carrier operations from both INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant, according to ADA, and will incorporate all enhancements identified during the exploitation of NP1 and NP2. It will also have production standard airframe and rainwater compliance, maintainability enhancements, and future system innovation.
