In a strategic advancement for youth development and military training, the Ministry of Defence has sanctioned the formation of independent National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorates in Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand. This pivotal decision will raise the total number of NCC State Directorates across the nation to 19.

The establishment of these new directorates is designed to bolster the NCC’s administrative framework, offering enhanced opportunities for cadets in both states to engage in vital training programs and camps recognized at the national level. The Ministry of Defence has outlined that these directorates will facilitate increased participation in key events, such as the Republic Day Parade Camp and the All India Thal Sainik Camp, among other prestigious NCC activities. Furthermore, this initiative aims to expand access to various military-oriented training and adventure programs, which may include mountaineering, trekking, and parasailing.

Officials have highlighted that the new administrative structure will enable focused coordination, improved oversight, and robust support for training and development initiatives. The directorates are anticipated to enhance training facilities, thereby providing better support mechanisms for cadets in both regions.

In Andhra Pradesh, the new NCC Directorate is expected to integrate NCC programs more closely with educational institutions, promoting greater involvement from students and enhancing avenues for leadership development, discipline, and contributions to nation-building.

The Ministry believes that this decision will likely boost youth participation in the NCC by making training more accessible and establishing a more streamlined administrative system tailored to the needs of Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand.

The NCC, founded in 1948 with a modest group of around 20,000 cadets, has evolved into the world’s largest uniformed youth organization, boasting nearly two million cadets today. Currently, NCC activities are organized in over 750 districts throughout the country, providing young individuals with invaluable experiences in leadership, community service, and military training.

The Ministry emphasized that this expansion aligns with the government’s vision for empowering youth and preparing them to make meaningful contributions to national development. Officials reiterated that the new directorates will be instrumental in cultivating confident, skilled, and socially responsible citizens, thereby strengthening the NCC’s role in nation-building and youth empowerment across Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand.
