In a commendable display of valor and dedication, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, officiated the Naval Investiture Ceremony 2026, where he presented Gallantry and Distinguished Service awards to personnel of the Indian Navy on behalf of the Hon’ble President of India.
The event served as a platform to recognize exceptional acts of bravery, commitment to duty, and professional excellence throughout the naval ranks. Among the notable awards presented were two Yudh Seva Medals, which honor acts of valor in combat, alongside 12 Nao Sena Medals awarded for gallantry and eight awarded for devotion to duty. Additionally, 18 personnel received the Vishisht Seva Medal, acknowledging their distinguished service within the Navy.
The ceremony also included special recognitions. The prestigious Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak was awarded posthumously to the spouse of Late Deepak Kumar, PO ME, highlighting the sacrifice made in the line of duty. Furthermore, the Capt Ravi Dhir Memorial Gold Medal was awarded for promoting flight safety, while the Lt VK Jain Memorial Medal recognized outstanding applied research contributions.
Operational ships and shore establishments were also acknowledged through unit citations for their exemplary performance. Additionally, the CNS Rolling Trophy for Best Green Practices was awarded to units excelling in environmental sustainability, with categories for both industrial and non-industrial operations.
The ceremony attracted several dignitaries, including Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command, along with senior officers, sailors, and the families of the award recipients.
The Naval Investiture Ceremony 2026 underscored the Indian Navy’s unwavering commitment to honoring bravery and operational excellence, reinforcing the foundational values that ensure their continued readiness and the security of maritime interests.
