National Cadet Corps is the Indian military cadet corps with its head Quarters at New Delhi. It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis.The National Cadet Corps in India is a voluntary organization which recruits cadets from high schools, colleges and Universities all over India. Indian Armed Force Branches – Air Force, Navy and Army give special entries for the NCC C Certificate holders.

Life As A NCC Cadet

To be a NCC cadet is like being unique, hardworking, dedicated, punctual, and most of all, an achiever. It inculcates the attitude of never giving up, makes you optimistic and builds a lot of self-confidence and character.

NCC Cadet Training: 

  • The total training period for a cadet is 3 years for seniors with an extension of 1 year permissible & training period for juniors is of 2 years. Every cadet of the Senior or Junior Division has to undergo service training for a period of at least 4 hours per week during the training year.
  • However, no training is carried out during periods when the college or school through which a cadet is enrolled is closed for a vacation. Every cadet of the Senior and Junior Division has undergo service training for a minimum period of 75% of total hours during the annual college and school session.
  • Every cadet (in case of JD, who has completed one full year of training and is in his second year) attends an annual training camp of 9–10 days, also known as National Combined Annual Training Camp. For SD/SW the duration is usually for up to 30 days. At the end of the camp training the cadets receive a certificate of successful completion.
  • Unlike most of the military institutes like NDA or IMA, young girls are also allowed to join the corps giving them equal opportunities as that of boys. Infact, in most groups, girls are alloted a whole new and different unit.

NCC SPECIAL ENTRY SCHEME SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION (NT) FOR MEN & WOMEN

Conditions of Eligibility:

(a) Nationality

A candidate must either be:

(i) A citizen of India, or

(ii) A subject of Bhutan, or

(iii) A subject of Nepal, or

(iv) A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st of January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or

(v) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopis and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. Certificate of eligibility will, however, not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.

Note: Candidates withdrawn on disciplinary ground from NDA, IMA, OTA or any other Service Training Academy are NOT eligible to apply.

Age Limit:

For NCC candidates (including wards of Battle Casualties) 19 to 25 years.

Note: The date of birth accepted by this office is that entered in the Matriculation or an equivalent examination certificate. No other document relating to age will b accepted and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted.

Educational Qualification and other Criteria

(a) For NCC ‘C’ Certificate Holders.

(i) Educational Qualification: 

(aa) Degree of a recognized University or equivalent with aggregate of minimum 50% marks taking into account marks of all the years.

(ab) Those studying in final year are also allowed to apply provided they have secured minimum 50% aggregate marks in the first two/three years of three/four years degree course respectively. Such students will need to secure overall aggregate of minimum 50% marks if selected in interview failing which their candidature will be cancelled.
The candidates studying in the final year of graduation should complete their examinations related to the degree, like, written, practicals, vivavoce, projects backlogs etc prior to 01 Oct 2016. They should be able to produce the degree within 12 weeks from the date of commencement of training at OTA, Chennai. Such candidates will be inducted for training at OTA, Chennai on additional bond basis for recovery of the cost of training as notified from time to time as well as stipend and pay and allowances paid, in case they fail to produce the requisite degree certificate.

(ac) Candidate must attach self attested photocopies of the certificate of 10th class for proof of age & mark sheet, 12th class Certificate & Mark sheet, Degree with all years/semesters marks sheets and NCC ‘C’ Certificate. Candidates must also attach certificate with their applications regarding CGPA converted to aggregate percentage of marks as per university rules from their institutes.

(ii) Service in NCC : Should have served for minimum two academic years in the senior Division/Wing of NCC.

(iii) Grading: Should have obtained minimum of ‘B’ Grade in ‘C’ Certificate Exam of NCC.

(b) For Ward of Battle Casualties of Army Personnel

(i) Educational Qualification

Degree of a recognized University or equivalent with aggregate of minimum 50% marks taking into account marks
of all the years.

(ii) NCC ‘C’ certificate not required.

(iii) Applicants under category of Wards of Battle Casualties to send their applications direct to Dte Gen of Recruiting/ Rtg-A, NCC Entry, West Block-III, R.K. Puram, New Delhi-110066.

(iii) Eligibility for wards of battle casualties and also documents to be attached alongwith the application form are as under:-

(aa) A letter to the effect that the parent has been killed/wounded /reported missing in action issued by MP Dte/Respective Regimental Records and a copy of Part II Order notifying injuries and being classified as battle casualties in case of serving/medically boarded out pers.

(ab) The vacancies under wards of battle casualties are available to wards (sons and daughters including legally adopted) of battle casualties specified as:-

(aaa) Killed in action.

(aab) Died of wound or injuries (Other than self-inflicted)

(aac) Wounded or Injured (Other than self-inflicted).

(aad) Missing.

(c) Relation Certificate issued by Respective Regimental Records / MP Dte.

(d) Last Date of Receipt of Application in Rtg Dte for Wards of battle causalities is 08 Feb 2016.

Physical Standard

(a) Height and Weight

The minimum acceptable height is 157.5 cms with corelated weight and for women candidate is 152 cms and 42 Kg. In case of candidates belonging to the North East and Hilly Areas like Gorkhas, Nepalese, Assamese and Garhwalis, the height is relaxed by 5 cms and weight commensurate with reduced height. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep the minimum acceptable height is reduced by 2 cms.

(b) Visual Standards

For male candidate distance Vision (Corrected) better eye 6/6 and worse eye 6/18. Myopia should not be more than 3.5D and hypermetropia not more than 3.5D including Astigmatism. For women candidates the minimum acceptable visual acuity are Distant Vision(corrected) better eye 6/6, worse 6/18, Myopia of not more than minus 5.5 including Astigmatism. Internal examination of the eye will be done by means of ophthalmoscope to rule out any disease of the eye. A candidate must have good binocular vision. The colour vision standard will be CPIII.
A candidate should be able to recognize red and green colours. Candidates who have undergone or have the evidence of having undergone Radial Keratotomy to improve the visual acuity will be permanently rejected. In order to detect
PRK/LASIK all the candidates at SMB will be subjected to the measurement of Axial length by A-Scan biometer. Candidates aged 20 years or above who have undergone Laser Surgery for correction of refractive error will be considered for commission in Army If they fulfill following criteria :-

(i) Uncomplicated stable LASIK/Excimer (PRK) laser procedure done for. Myopia or Hypermetropia, with stable refraction for a period of six months after the procedure.

(ii) A healthy retina.

(iii) Corrected vision should be 6/6 in better eye and 6/9 in worse eye, with maximum residual refraction of : ± 1.50 in any meridian for myopia or hypermetropia.

(iv) Axial length within permissible limits.

NCC C Certificate Entries in Indian Air Force

FLYING PILOT (NCC ENTRY)

If you’re an Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ Certificate of the NCC holder, then you can join the Air Force (Flying Branch) through the Directorate General National Cadet Corps or through your respective NCC Air Squadrons. Only men are allowed to join the IAF as Pilots through the NCC. You will be given permanent commission through this mode of entry.

ELIGIBILITY FOR FLYING PILOT (NCC ENTRY)

Age – 19 to 23 years when course commences

Nationality – Indian

Gender – Men only

Marital Status – Single

Educational Qualifications –

1. Graduate (Three Year Course) in any discipline from a recognised University with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together and  passed Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level .

2. BE / B Tech (Four Year Course) from a recognised University with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together.

3. NCC Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ certificate.

4. Final Year/semester students are also eligible to apply, provided they do not have any present backlogs at the time of SSB Testing and produce Degree certificate issued by the University as per the date stipulated in the advt.
