National Defence Academy NDA is one of the finest Indian Armed Force training academies which provides a respectful and beneficial career to an aspirants. NDA is the Joint Services academy of the Indian Armed Forces, where cadets of the three services, the Army, the Navy and the Air Force train together. Eligible candidate can write NDA entrance exam twice in a year which is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission).

What is NDA 2 2017 Exam Eligibility Criteria

As per the issued guidelines by UPSC below are the few prerequisite that a candidate should fulfill

NDA 2 2017 exam date

  • Date of Notification: 06.06.2017
  • Start of receipt of applications: 07.06.2017
  • Last date to apply as per NDA 2 2017 exam notification: 30.06.2017
  • Date of Exam: 10.09.2017
  • Result: Dec 2017

What is NDA 2 2017 Exam Age Limit

16 ½ to 19 ½ years as of first day of the month in which course is due to commence.

What is NDA 2 2017 Exam Educational Qualification

  1. For Army wing of National Defence Academy: 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
  2. For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy: A candidate must have passed 10+2 educational level with physics and mathematics subjects. Candidates who are appearing in the 12th class under the 10+2 pattern of school education or equivalent can also apply.

What is NDA 2 2017 Exam Syllabus

NDA exam consist of two papers – Mathematics and General Ability

Mathematics: Algebra, Matrices and determinants, Trigonometry, Analytical Geometry of two and three dimensions, differential calculus, Integral calculus and differential equations, Vector algebra, Statistics and Probability.

General Ability: English (Grammar and usage, vocabulary, comprehension and cohesion), General Knowledge, Physics, Chemistry, General science, History, Geography and Current affairs.

NDA 2 2017 Exam Pattern

The NDA written exam comprises of 2 papers [Mathematics and general ability test].

Each paper is held for a duration of two and a half hour, so a candidate has to be mentally prepared to write the exam for 5 hours in a day.

These papers are objective in nature, You will have to make a choice out of four or three given choices. Each questions has only one correct answer and choosing more than 1 option will be regarded as wrong answer.

Paper 1: Mathematics

This paper has questions on mathematical [10+2 level] topics  like Trigonometry, Arithmetic’s, 3D Geometry, statistics, calculus, permutation and combination etc.

Number of questions: 120

Time allocated: 2 and 1/2 hours.

Total marks: 300.

Negative marks for wrong answer: one-third marks of the mark assigned to that particular question.

Paper 2:  General Ability Test

Number of question: 150

Time allocated: 2 and 1/2 hours.

Total marks: 600

Negative marks for wrong answer: one-third marks of the mark assigned to that particular question.

General Ability Test is divided into two parts

Part A: English

English part has 50 questions [200 marks] on topics like spotting error, passage, jumbled sentences, fill in the blanks etc.

Part B: General knowledge and awareness

Part B contains 100 questions [400 marks], has topics divided in following manner.

  • Physics – This topic will carry 100 marks.
  • Chemistry – This topic will carry 60 marks.
  • General section – This topic will carry 40 marks.
  • History, Freedom Movement – This topic will carry 80 marks.
  • Geography – This topic will carry 80 marks.
  • Current Events – This topic will carry 40 marks.

The questions asked in Physics and chemistry are very basic in nature. One has to keep in mind that in paper 2 one has to do 150 questions in 150 minutes, so time is an important entity here.

Questions asked in current affair are related to sports, science, awards etc.

There are few things that has to be kept in mind, like in Mathematics paper all questions are not allocated same marks, some questions are allocated more marks, some are allocated less. The questions asked in Physics are  based on the 11th and 12th standard, though very few numerical type question are asked in Physics. All aspirants should be clear about NDA exam pattern because the number of questions asked in NDA exam is high and if you don’t have a strategy, you can fall short of time and miss out on the easier questions. In order to clear NDA exam one should have strong basics in Maths, physics and chemistry and should take a number of mock or online test series to get ready for the exam.
