Nine Soldiers Killed As Army Vehicle Falls Into Gorge In Ladakh

Nine soldiers were killed after an Army vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in the Leh district of Ladakh on Saturday. The incident happened in Kerey, located in the southern part of Ladakh’s Nyoma region. In response, authorities have initiated a rescue mission at the accident site.

According to officials, the accident occurred around 6.30 pm. “The troops were moving from Karu garrison to Kyari near Leh,” officials added. According to Leh Senior Superintendent of Police P D Nitya, the Army truck was on its way to Nyoma from Leh when its driver lost control and crashed into a gorge around 4.45 p.m. A police squad was dispatched to the scene, and all injured soldiers were transported to an Army medical facility.

According to the officer, another Jawan was being treated, and his condition was described as “critical.” Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister, conveyed his condolences over the deaths of Army men. “I am saddened by the loss of Indian Army personnel in an accident near Leh in Ladakh,” he stated. We shall never forget their outstanding contribution to our country. “My thoughts are with the bereaved families,” he added. The injured soldiers were taken to the Field Hospital. I’m hoping for a rapid recovery for them.”
