Pearson Engineering has been awarded a significant contract to supply 99 SLICE vehicle interface kits for Poland’s new M1A2 SEP V3 main battle tanks. The SLICE system will enhance the operational capabilities of these armored vehicles by facilitating the rapid attachment and operation of various front-end equipment (FEE) such as mine plows and dozer blades, which are crucial for improving battlefield mobility.

This innovative system is aimed at enabling combat engineers to concentrate on high-risk, specialized tasks, including route clearance for convoys, deployment of assault bridges, and overcoming complex obstacles on the battlefield. Richard Beatson, the Business Development Director at Pearson Engineering, emphasized the importance of agility and flexibility in land maneuver operations. “By enabling interoperability of FEE via SLICE, we hope that armed forces can deliver an overall improved engineer effect that provides the battle winning advantage,” he stated.

The delivery of the tanks, which will be equipped with Pearson’s advanced systems, is scheduled to take place this year through the U.S. Foreign Military Sales program. Beatson noted that this contract represents a key milestone for Pearson Engineering as the company seeks to enhance its support for operators of various vehicle types worldwide.

The SLICE interface system boasts several noteworthy features that enhance combat vehicle capabilities. It offers scalable, modular mobility and countermobility functionalities, making it well-suited for the varied demands of modern military engagements. Notably, the lightweight SLICE interface can be installed quickly without necessitating any permanent modifications to the vehicle structure. The plug-and-play design allows for the straightforward attachment and removal of front-end equipment in field conditions, a process that takes approximately 15 minutes and requires only a crane and basic tools.

Furthermore, the system is engineered to ensure that it does not obstruct the movement of the vehicle’s main gun or impede the driver’s visibility, thereby maintaining the combat effectiveness of the tank. It is equipped with a built-in hydraulic motor pump and control unit, which serves to minimize any negative impact on the vehicle’s overall performance and functionality.
