Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles Secures Contract for Up to 1,000 Trucks from Danish Armed Forces

Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) has secured a significant framework contract with the Danish Armed Forces, mandating the delivery of up to 1,000 HX and TG logistics trucks. This initial order comprises more than 100 vehicles, with a financial value reported in the double-digit millions of euros. The contract was awarded by Denmark’s Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO) and is aimed at bolstering the capabilities of the nation’s heavy infantry brigade.

This strategic collaboration not only focuses on vehicle delivery but also incorporates essential components such as sustainment services, spare parts, and comprehensive operator training, ensuring that the vehicles remain operational and effective in various mission scenarios. In a complementary aspect of this deal, DALO has extended the sustainment contract for its current fleet of HX vehicles by an additional four years, further solidifying the partnership.

The timeline for the delivery of the first trucks is ambitious, with shipments expected to commence before the close of 2027. Col. Thomas Øgendahl Knudsen, who leads the land division at DALO, emphasized the importance of this acquisition, stating, “The acquisition of new all-terrain trucks for the heavy infantry brigade is another important piece in the Army’s armament.” He expressed satisfaction with the contract, which he believes will significantly enhance the operational combat power of soldiers in the coming years.

The trucks included in the contract are part of the HX and TG families, which are designed to meet the rigorous demands of military operations. The HX family offers versatile configurations, ranging from 4×4 to 10×10, with payload capacities between 5 and 16 tons (10,000 to 32,000 pounds). The system comprises nine base variants, all powered by a MAN D2066 Euro 4 engine that delivers 440 horsepower. Notably, the HX vehicles can transport up to 17,000 kilograms (37,479 pounds) of cargo, feature a fuel capacity of 400 liters (106 gallons), and achieve a top speed of 100 kilometers (62 miles) per hour, with an operational range of 800 kilometers (497 miles).

In parallel, the TG family of vehicles—derived from RMMV’s established commercial heavy vehicle lineup—offers 4×4 and 8×8 designs capable of transporting up to 10 tons (20,000 pounds) of cargo. The military-specific TG-MIL and TGS-MIL variants are equipped with Euro 3 to Euro 6 diesel engines, producing between 340 and 540 horsepower. Similar to the HX vehicles, the TG family promises substantial fuel capacity and operational ranges exceeding 800 kilometers (497 miles).

This contract marks a pivotal moment in the enhancement of Denmark’s military logistics and operational readiness, ensuring that the Danish Armed Forces are well-equipped to meet current and future challenges.
