In a significant development aimed at enhancing defence cooperation, a five-member delegation from the Sri Lanka Military Academy paid a visit to the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun from February 24 to 28, 2025. The delegation, which included one officer and four cadets, engaged in a variety of training activities and had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the IMA’s modern infrastructure and facilities.
This exchange program highlights the longstanding military collaboration between India and Sri Lanka, emphasizing the importance of mutual understanding and the sharing of best practices in military training and leadership. Such initiatives are crucial not only for strengthening professional ties but also for contributing to regional stability and security.
During their visit, the Sri Lankan cadets took part in a series of events aimed at providing a comprehensive overview of the training methodologies at IMA. Their activities included interactive sessions with Indian cadets, exposure to tactical exercises, and tours of various training establishments within the academy. These experiences are designed to enhance the cadets’ understanding of diverse military practices and foster camaraderie between the two nations’ armed forces.
The Indian Military Academy, known for its rigorous and comprehensive training programs, has a well-established tradition of hosting international cadets. This commitment to global military cooperation is reflected in the successful execution of the exchange program, which serves as a reaffirmation of both India and Sri Lanka’s dedication to strengthening defence ties and promoting peace and security throughout the region.
