On April 1, 2023, Vice Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh, AVSM, NM, began serving in that capacity. On April 2, VAdm Sanjay Jasjit Singh reviewed the Guard of Honor at South Block in New Delhi and paid respects to the courageous at the National War Monument.
About Vice Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh
Vice Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh graduated from the National Defence Academy in Pune and was commissioned in the Indian Navy’s Executive Branch in 1986. In his 37-year career, he has served on most classes of Indian Navy ships and held a variety of command, training, and staff positions, including Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (CSNCO), Flag Officer Sea Training, Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet, Commandant Naval War College, and Controller Personnel Services. Prior to becoming Vice Chief of Naval Staff, he served as Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Operations).
He has an MSc and MPhil in Defence and Strategic Studies from Madras University, an MA in Defence Studies from Kings College in London, and an MA (History), MPhil (Pol), and Ph.D. (Arts) from Mumbai University. The Flag Officer received the Nau Sena Medal in 2009 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2020 in recognition of his distinguished service.
