World Day Against Child Labour
- The World Day Against Child Labour is an International Labour Organization (ILO)-sanctioned holiday first launched in 2002 aiming to raise awareness and activism to prevent child labour.
- It was spurred by ratifications of ILO Convention No. 138 on the minimum age for employment and ILO Convention No. 182 on the worst forms of child labour.
- The World Day Against Child Labour, which is held every year on June 12, is intended to foster the worldwide movement against child labour.
- The Theme For World Day Against Child Labour 2022 Is “Universal Social Protection To End Child Labour.”
International Albinism Awareness Day
- International Albinism Awareness Day (IAAD) is celebrated annually on June 13 to celebrate the human rights of persons with albinism worldwide.
- In 2014 Human Rights Council recommended June 13 to be proclaimed as International Albinism Awareness Day by the United Nations General Assembly.
- Albinism is a congenital condition characterized in humans by the partial or complete absence of pigment in the skin, hair, and eyes.

Global Sustainable Development Report, 2022
- The 2022 SDG Index is topped by Finland, followed by three Nordic countries –Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
- India was ranked 121 out of the 163 countries. It was ranked 117 in 2020 and 120 in 2021.
- It is a global assessment of countries’ progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
- It is published by a group of independent experts at the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).
- Countries are ranked by their overall score.
- The overall score measures the total progress towards achieving all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
- The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
Thailand Makes Marijuana Legal
- Thailand has legalized cultivating and possessing Marijuana, but recreational use (Such as smoking) is still banned, even though advocates say the easing effectively decriminalizes Marijuana.
- The nation is the first to advance such a move in South-East Asia, a region known for its stringent drug laws.
- Thailand, with its year-round tropical climate, has long had a history with Cannabis which many locals commonly used in traditional medicines.
- The goal is to get a head start on its neighbors in winning a large slice of the lucrative market for health treatments using cannabis derivatives, in particular the milder compound CBD (Cannabidiol). But there is another motive, for reducing overcrowding in some of the world’s most overcrowded jails.
- This means, in theory, that with the cultivation of the plant in any quantities now completely legalized, the police are now unlikely to arrest people just for possession of marijuana.
- The government is hoping that developing a local cannabis trade will boost agriculture and tourism.
Ram Prasad Bismil Remembered On His Jayanthi
- Ram Prasad Bismil (11 June 1897 — 19 December 1927) was an Indian poet, writer, and revolutionary who participated in the Mainpuri Conspiracy of 1918, and the Kakori Conspiracy of 1925, and fought against British Raj.
- Bismil was a freedom fighter who played an active role in India’s freedom struggle. In memory of his contribution to India’s independence, his birthday (11 June) is observed as a celebration day by the Indians.
- He is well known for being a part of the Manipuri conspiracy in 1918 and the Kakori conspiracy in 1925.
- The Kakori incident was one of the important events of Jung-e-Azadi.
- He also had a command of Urdu and the Hindi language, which made him a prominent revolutionary.
Dharohar: The National Museum Of Customs And GST
- Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman dedicated to the nation, Dharohar – the National Museum of Customs and GST in Panaji Goa today.
- The Finance Minister removed the golden sand from single rock art installed at the centuries-old heritage building in which the museum is housed.
- The two-story ‘Blue building’, which was earlier known as Alfandega, during the period of Portuguese rule in Goa, has been standing on the banks of the Mandovi River in Panaji for more than 400 years.
- Dharohar is one of its kind museum in the country that showcases not only the artifacts seized by Indian Customs but also depicts various aspects of work performed by the Customs Department.
- ‘Dharohar’ has eight galleries. GST Gallery is a brand-new addition to the Dharohar Museum. A first-of-its-kind initiative in the country, this GST Gallery takes one through the long and arduous journey of GST spanning two decades.
National Conference On Competition Law
- The Competition Commission of India CCI organized a National Conference on Competition Law as part of the ongoing Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav in New Delhi.

UNGA Adopts Resolution On Multilingualism
- The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has adopted an India-sponsored resolution on multilingualism that mentions the Hindi language for the first time. The resolution passed urges the United Nations to continue spreading vital communications and messages in both official and non-official languages, including Hindi.
- India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations T. S. Tirumurti said, multilingualism is acknowledged as a basic principle of the United Nations and expressed gratitude to the Secretary-General for supporting multilingualism. He said, for the first time, the Hindi language is mentioned in the resolution besides Bangla and Urdu for the first time in the resolution.
- Mr Tirumurti said, Since 2018, India has provided an extra-budgetary contribution to the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC) to mainstream and consolidate news and multimedia content in the Hindi language.
- As part of these efforts, ‘Hindi @ UN’ project was launched in 2018 with an objective to enhance the public outreach of the United Nations in the Hindi language and to spread greater awareness about global issues among millions of Hindi-speaking populations around the world.
