Joint Military Exercise “Ex Sampriti-x” To Commence In Bangladesh

As part of the ongoing India Bangladesh bilateral defence cooperation, a joint military training exercise Ex SAMPRITI-X is being conducted at Jashore Military Station in Bangladesh from 05 June to 16 June 2022.
Exercise SAMPRITI is an important bilateral defence cooperation endeavour conducted alternately by both countries which aims to strengthen and widen the aspects of interoperability and cooperation between both the armies.
The aim of the exercise is to strengthen interoperability b/w the two armies and to understand each other’s tactical drills and operational techniques. The Indian contingent of company strength is being represented by a Battalion of the DOGRA Regiment.
During the joint military exercise Ex SAMPRITI-X, armies of both the Nations will share expertise in multiple simulated scenarios of Counter Terrorism, Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief and UN Peacekeeping Force under UN mandate.

Rajnath Singh to hand over 12 high-speed guard boat consignments to Vietnam

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is all set to embark on a three-day visit to Vietnam from 8-10 June to hand over twelve high-speed guard boats constructed under India’s USD 100 million Defence Line of Credit.
During his visit, Rajnath Singh will also hold bilateral talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Phan Van Giang to further strengthen defense cooperation between the two nations
Defence Minister will also visit the training institutions of Vietnam at Nha Trang, including the Telecommunication University where an Army Software Park is being established with a USD 5 million grant from the Government of India.
India and Vietnam share a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership since 2016 and defense cooperation is a key pillar of this partnership. Vietnam is an important partner in India’s Act East policy and the Indo-Pacific vision.
The Defence Minister’s visit on the historic occasion of 50 years of establishment of India-Vietnam Diplomatic relations and 75 years of India’s Independence will further consolidate the bilateral defense cooperation and the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Union Cabinet Likely To Approve New Military Recruitment Scheme Soon

The new Agnipath recruitment scheme for the induction of soldiers in three defence services is likely to be approved by Union Cabinet soon.
- As per the initial plans, after the initial training of around six months, around 20-25 percent of recruited youth known as ‘Agniveers‘ would be given longer tenures while others would be released with a severance package which would be around Rs 10-12 lakh.
- If the project moves as per plan, the recruitment process for the first batch of Agniveers may start in the next three to four months.
- As per the plans, the soldiers relieved from the service would be provided assistance in getting placed in civilian jobs.

Indian, Kazakh Army Personnel Summit Mountain Peaks In Kazakhstan

Indian and Kazakhstan Army personnel summited mountain peaks in Kazakhstan.
The armies carried out the joint drill at Amangilde and Nursultan Peaks in Kazakhstan.
A joint team of Indian Mountaineering Mobile Training Team to Kazakhstan and Kazakhstan Army summited Amangilde and Nursultan Peaks in Kazakhstan. Both sides exchanged valuable experiences and techniques during the summit.
Significance of Kazakhstan to India:
There are three factors which make Kazakhstan important for India. First, its geo-strategic location; second, its economic potential, especially in terms of energy resources; and third, its multi-ethnic and secular structure.
Kazakhstan’s geo-political existence between Russia and Asia, along with long borders with China, makes it a country of great strategic importance.
Kazakhstan lies to the northeast of the Caspian Sea, bordered by the Russian Federation to the north, China to the east, and Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to the south.
Kazakhstan can also help India achieve a geostrategic rebalancing with China. India’s foremost objective is countering the rapid economic inroads China is making in the region through the One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative.
India seeks to achieve this with the competing North-South Transport Corridor (NSTC).
NSTC is a multi-modal transportation established on 12th September 2000 in St. Petersburg, by Iran, Russia and India for the purpose of promoting transportation cooperation among the Member States. It has been expanded to include eleven new members.
Kazakhstan has become one of the key activists in the field of global nuclear security, and has achieved a number of results in peacekeeping policies and the resolution of conflicts around Nagorno-Karabakh, Iran, Ukraine and Syria.

INS Nishank And INS Akshay Decommissioned After 32 Years Of Glorious Service

Indian Navy Ships Nishank and Akshay were decommissioned on 03 June 2022 after rendering 32 years of glorious service to the nation. The decommissioning event was conducted at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai.
While INS Nishank was commissioned on 12 September 1989, INS Akshay was commissioned a year later 10 December 1990 at Poti, Georgia. INS Nishank and INS Akshay were part of the 22 Missile Vessel Squadron and 23 Patrol Vessel Squadron respectively under the operational control of Flag Officer Commanding, Maharashtra Naval Area.
The ships were in active naval service for more than 32 years and during their illustrious journeys, participated in several naval operations including Op Talwar during the Kargil War and Op Parakram in 2001.

Valedictory Function Of 102nd Advance Navigation Course & 134th Ab-initio Navigation Course

Valedictory function of 102nd Advance Navigation Course & 134th Ab-Initio Navigation Course was held at Navigation Training School, Air Force Station, Begumpet. Air Commodore Sunil Tomar, Air Officer Commanding, AFS Begumpet was the Reviewing Officer for the event.
The graduating course of the 102nd Advance Navigation Course comprised officers from the Indian Air Force, Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard. These officers would be stepping out as instructors and taking up instructional assignments in their respective services.
The 134th Ab-Initio Navigation Course comprised flight cadets of IAF and an officer from Sri Lankan Air Force. Meritorious trainees of both the courses were awarded trophies, medals and certificates during the function.
AFC-Begumpet Air Officer Commanding Air Commodore Sunil Tomar was the reviewing officer for the event. Commanding Officer of Navigation Training School Group Captain Manish Kumar rendered the welcome address commemorating the successful completion of both the courses. Chief Navigation Instructor, Wing Commander M. Das, presented reports for both the courses.
NTS is a premier training institution of the Indian Air Force specialising in training budding officers in aerial navigation. It has been transforming flight cadets into astute navigators and imparting advanced navigation skills and instructional techniques to select navigators of IAF, Navy and Indian Coast Guard for the last seven decades.
Flight Cadets, who have completed their training at NTS, would be commissioned as Officers in the IAF during the Combined Graduation Parade to be held at Air Force Academy, Dundigal.

Pakistan To Raise Defence Spending By Rs 83 Bn

Pakistan’s armed forces are likely to be allocated Rs 1.4 trillion (USD 7.6 billion) in the budget for the next fiscal year, about Rs 83 billion higher than the current year.
Defence spending often comes under scrutiny at the time of the announcement of the annual budget when allocations for various sectors are earmarked.
The allocation of Rs 1.453 trillion (USD 7.6 billion) would be about Rs 83 billion higher than the outgoing year’s allocation of Rs 1.37 trillion, an increase of almost six percent.
The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) in its data on global military-spending published says, “The five largest spenders in 2021 were the United States, China, India, the United Kingdom, and Russia, together accounting for 62 percent of expenditure, according to new data on global military spending.”
