Visitor’s Conference 2022

  • President Ram Nath Kovind hosts the Visitor’s Conference 2022 at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. President Kovind will present the Visitor’s Awards 2020 in the categories of Research and Technological Development.
  • The two-day Conference will witness presentations and deliberations on various topics such as international rankings of Higher Education Institutions, collaboration between Academia-Industry and policy-makers, and education and research in emerging and disruptive technologies.
  • The President is a visitor of 161 Central Institutes of Higher Education. Apart from the heads of these institutions, Education and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will also attend the Conference.

Logo For ‘Ayurveda Aahar’ Launched

  • On World Food Safety Day, Dr Mandaviya launched the logo for ‘Ayurveda Aahar’. He said, this will help in creating a unique identity of ‘Ayurveda Aahar’ for easy identification and its proven benefits to improve health and well-being.
  • The Minister also released Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, FSSAI 4th State Food Safety Index (SFSI) to measure the performance of states across five parameters of food safety.
  • SFSI was started from 2018-19 with the aim of creating a competitive and positive change in the food safety ecosystem in the country.
  • He said, the index will help in providing safe and nutritious food to the citizens.

National Air Sports Policy 2022

  • Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia today announced first-ever National Air Sports Policy-2022 in New Delhi. The objective of this policy is to include India among the top air sporting nations by 2030. It is also aimed at providing a safe, affordable and sustainable air sports ecosystem in the country. Eleven air sports including Aerobatics, Ballooning, Gliding, Parachuting, Powered aircraft and Rotorcraft will be promoted through this policy.
  • Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Scindia said, this policy will create a robust ecosystem of air sports activities in the country. He said, this will help in generation of one lakh jobs in the sector and increase the revenue from existing 100 crore rupees to 10 thousand crore rupees in coming years.
  • Highlighting the salient features of the policy, the Civil Aviation Minister said, segregated air spaces will be created in certain locations to allow uninhibited air sporting activities in the designated areas. He said, domestic manufacturing of air sports equipment will be promoted through this policy. Mr. Scindia said, four-tier governance structure, Air Sports Federation of India has been formed which will cover all aspects of air sports.

Proposed Integrated Training Modules In Governance

  • Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr Jitendra Singh has advocated for integrated training modules in governance for Central Training Institutions.
  • The Minister was presiding over a joint meeting yesterday which was attended by senior officials of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and Central Training Institutions like Lal Bahadur Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) Mussoorie.
  • Dr. Singh has called upon Central Training Institutes (CTIs) to prepare institutional interactive curriculum and come forward to involve other training institutions of the country in this endeavour.
  • Dr. Jitendra Singh stressed on specialised training faculty from different strata and inclusion of more women faculty members amongst other issues. He also floated the idea of having visiting resident professors for the institutes.
  • The Union Minister has said that such institutions  should work with more cohesion and integrated approach in order to try to learn and benefit from each other’s expertise. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s penchant for Governance Reforms, Dr Singh added that in this transformation, CTIs have a huge role to play in training and shaping the officers for execution of the tasks throughout their careers.

Single Nodal Agency Dashboard Launched

  • Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched Single Nodal Agency Dashboard during the Iconic Week Celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav of Ministry of Finance in New Delhi.
  • The Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Corporate Affairs’ Iconic Week celebrations were launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • The Single Nodal Agency Dashboard forms part of a major public financial management reform that was initiated in 2021 with regards to the manner in which funds for Centrally Sponsored Schemes are released, disbursed and monitored.
  • This revised procedure, now referred to as the SNA model, requires each State to identify and designate a Single Nodal Agency for every scheme. All funds for that State in a particular scheme will be credited in this bank account, and all expenses will be made by all other Implementing Agencies involved from this account.
  • The SNA model ensures that allocation of funds to States for the Centrally Sponsored Schemes are made in a timely manner and after meeting various stipulations.
  • Effective implementation of this Model has brought about greater efficiency in Centrally Sponsored Schemes fund utilization, tracking of funds, and pragmatic and just-in-time release of funds to the States. All of this contributes to better Cash Management of the Government.

Medical Claim Of Retired Officials Without Scrutiny

  • Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya said the government has taken decision to pay the medical claim of retired officials up to Rs 500 without scrutiny.
  • Inaugurating the new office of Additional Director CGHS in Patna Mr. Mandaviya said officers have been instructed to hold panchayat at district and block level to listen and solve problems of CGHS beneficiaries.
  • On this occasion the minister said that health facilities and care have become accessible and affordable to the general public under the visionary leadership of PM Narendra Modi.
  • Mr. Mandaviya said Critical Care Hospital block will be set up at Patna AIIMS and ICU and CCU will be of 150 beds.

25th Foundation Day Of BIMSTEC

  • The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Created On 6th June 1997 is an international organization of seven South Asian and Southeast Asian nations, housing 1.73 billion people and having a combined gross domestic product of US$4.4 trillion (2022).
  • The BIMSTEC member states – Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand – are among the countries dependent on the Bay of Bengal.
  • Fourteen priority sectors of cooperation have been identified and several BIMSTEC centers have been established to focus on those sectors.
  • Leadership is rotated in alphabetical order of country names. The permanent secretariat is in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
  • Recently The 25th Founding Day of BIMSTEC was celebrated in Dhaka.

Works On NARCL Reviewed

  • Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reviewed the progress in setting up of the National Asset Reconstruction Company Limited (NARCL).
  • It is the special purpose Asset Reconstruction Company for taking over the large value NPA accounts above 500 crore rupees from the banks.
  • During the review, the Finance Minister was apprised of the progress made in this direction.
  • The Finance Ministry said, the first set of accounts is expected to be transferred in the next month.
  • The remaining accounts are proposed to be taken over within the third quarter of the current financial year.
