65th Raising Day of Border Roads Organisation
- On 7 May 2024 marks the 65th Raising Day of BRO a pioneer in border area infrastructure development. With a steadfast commitment to meeting the strategic needs of the Indian Armed Forces, BRO has played a pivotal role in fortifying the nation’s defence.
- The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) was formed on May 7, 1960, with the primary goal of developing infrastructure in remote areas of India’s north and northeastern states.
- BRO will be celebrating its 65h Raising Day on May 07, 2024, at all its detachments across the country. Project Dantak has been instrumental in developing infrastructure and providing connectivity in remote areas of Bhutan.

Sixth Edition of Commandants’ Conclave Held In Pune
- The sixth edition of Commandants’ Conclave was held at Military Institute of Technology, Pune under the aegis of HQ Integrated Defence Staff on 07 May 24.
- The Commandants of esteemed Armed Forces Training Institutions and War Colleges along with other senior leadership of Armed forces attended the Conclave and brainstormed on charting the course for future defence strategies in nurturing the future leaders of Indian Armed Forces.
- Senior leadership gathered at MILIT, Pune and exchanged insights, shared best practices at institutions and strategised on building future-ready Forces. This landmark event underscores Indian Armed Forces’ commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and collaboration in the face of evolving global challenges.
Indian Navy Ships Arrived At Singapore
- INS Delhi, Shakti, and Kiltan led by RAdm Rajesh Dhankhar, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet arrived at Singapore on 06 May 24 to a warm welcome by personnel of Republic of Singapore Navy and the High Commissioner of India in Singapore.
- The visit is part of the Operational Deployment of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet to the South China sea. This visit is poised to further strengthen the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two maritime nations through a series of engagements and activities.
- During the ships’ stay in harbour, various activities planned to be undertaken include interactions with the High Commission of India, professional interactions with the Singapore Navy as also academia and community outreach amongst other activities, reflecting the shared values of both navies.
Israeli Forces Seize Rafah Crossing In Gaza
- An Israeli tank brigade seized control of Gaza’s vital Rafah border crossing Tuesday as Israel brushed off urgent warnings from close allies and launched an incursion into the southern city even as cease-fire negotiations with Hamas remained on a knife’s edge.
- The UN warned of a potential collapse of the flow of aid to Palestinians from the closure of Rafah and the other main crossing into Gaza, Kerem Shalom, at a time when officials say northern Gaza is experiencing “full-blown famine.”
- The Israeli foray overnight came after hours of whiplash in the now 7-month-old Israel-Hamas war, with the militant group saying Monday it accepted an Egyptian-Qatari mediated cease-fire proposal. Israel, however, insisted the deal did not meet its core demands.
Army, IAF Conduct Joint Exercise At Multiple Locations In Punjab
- Indian Army’s Kharga Corps, under the aegis of Army’s Western Command, successfully conducted a three-day joint exercise with the IAF at multiple locations in Punjab.
- The exercise was conducted to refine processes and validate employment of attack helicopters in support of mechanised operations in developed terrain, an official statement issued on Tuesday said.
- The Gagan Strike-II exercise, which incorporated Apache and ALH-WSI helicopters, Unarmed Aerial Vehicles and special forces of Indian Army, was aimed at validating various force multipliers in support of ground offensive by strike corps along with live firing by helicopters as demanded by mechanised forces during offensive maneuvers, the statement said.
