International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2025
Natural calamities like earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, and volcanic eruptions continue to pose serious threats to human life and infrastructure across the world. However, through effective disaster preparedness and risk reduction strategies, their devastating impact can be greatly mitigated.
To highlight the importance of such measures, the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) is observed every year on 13 October. The day serves as a global reminder of the need for proactive planning and resilience-building to safeguard communities against natural disasters.
70th Filmfare Awards 2025
The 70th Filmfare Awards 2025 honored the finest achievements in Hindi cinema at a grand ceremony held at EKA Arena, Kankaria Lake, Ahmedabad.

Bumrah Creates History: 50 Matches Across All Formats
In a historic feat, Jasprit Bumrah became the first Indian fast bowler to play 50 matches in each of the three international formats—Tests, ODIs, and T20Is.
This achievement was recorded during the second Test against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi, on 10 October 2025.
Bumrah joins an elite group of Indian cricketers such as MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul, who have achieved similar all-format milestones in international cricket.
Three Indian Ports Declared Green Hydrogen Hubs
To accelerate India’s clean energy transformation, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has designated three major ports—Deendayal Port (Gujarat), V.O. Chidambaranar Port (Tamil Nadu), and Paradip Port (Odisha)—as Green Hydrogen Hubs.
This initiative falls under the National Green Hydrogen Mission and is aimed at developing integrated hubs for the production, storage, transport, and utilization of green hydrogen.
These hubs will serve key industries such as shipping, refining, fertilizers, and logistics, aligning with India’s net-zero emissions goal by 2070.
Revamped Sugamya Bharat App Enhances Accessibility
The Sugamya Bharat App, a flagship platform of the Accessible India Campaign, has been upgraded to strengthen its functionality and outreach.
Developed by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, the app empowers persons with disabilities and senior citizens by allowing them to report accessibility challenges and access essential information on welfare schemes.
Launched in 2021, the app operates as a crowdsourcing platform for identifying and addressing barriers in public spaces, transport systems, and digital infrastructure, promoting a more inclusive and accessible India.
