Surgeon Commodore B Vikas has officially taken command of INHS Sanjivani, the premier hospital of the Southern Naval Command, on December 19, 2025. His transition into this critical role was marked by a ceremonial division held at the establishment, where he succeeded Surgeon Commodore R W Thergaonkar.

Surg Cmde Vikas brings with him a wealth of experience and a distinguished background as a medical officer. He is an alumnus of both the Indian Naval War College and the National Defence College, demonstrating his commitment to military excellence. Additionally, he holds an Executive MBA from IIT Madras, reflecting his abilities in leadership and management within the healthcare sector.

His career is highlighted by several key appointments, including serving as the Fleet Medical Officer (West) and the Director (Provisioning) at the Directorate General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS). He has also held the position of Senior Registrar at INHS Asvini, showcasing his extensive operational and administrative experience.
