In a significant display of commitment to operational readiness, Air Marshal B Manikantan, the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Air Command, conducted an extensive visit to Air Force Station Sonegaon in Nagpur and Air Force Station Jabalpur. The primary focus of his visit was to review the operational preparedness and combat capabilities of these key installations.
During his visit, Air Marshal Manikantan conducted thorough assessments of the air bases and their respective combat elements. His evaluations included interactions with personnel stationed at the facilities, providing a first-hand opportunity to gauge their readiness levels. He emphasized the crucial importance of precision, synergy, and the continued enhancement of capabilities, underscoring the IAF’s strategic focus on maintaining effective operational readiness.
Additionally, Air Marshal Manikantan was briefed on the ongoing developments of Project Gajraj. This ambitious initiative involves the creation of a Greenfield Air Force Station at the Multi-Modal International Cargo Hub and Airport (MIHAN) in Nagpur. The project aims to bolster the region’s strategic capabilities and improve overall operational infrastructure.
In a notable highlight of the visit, he inaugurated a state-of-the-art indoor training facility tailored for the Garud Special Forces. This facility is designed to enhance the training standards and operational capabilities of the elite forces, further reinforcing the commitment to modernisation within the Indian Air Force.
Upon his arrival, Air Marshal Manikantan was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour, a reflection of the high esteem in which he is held. The visit included detailed briefings regarding the units’ operational strategies, coupled with direct interactions with the stationed personnel. He took the opportunity to commend the troops for their high morale and professionalism, which are critical factors in the overall efficacy of operational readiness.
The visit also included engagement from Dr (Mrs) Nirmala T Manikantan, the President of the Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Regional), who interacted with the Sanginis at the stations.
