The honour was presented during PM Modi’s official visit to Sweden, where he held bilateral discussions with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
The Royal Order of the Polar Star is among Sweden’s oldest and most respected awards. It was established in 1748 by King Frederick I to recognize outstanding services and contributions. The Commander Grand Cross rank is generally awarded to distinguished foreign dignitaries and heads of government.

Tata Electronics Partners with ASML for Dholera Semiconductor Project
Tata Electronics has signed a major partnership agreement with ASML to support the establishment of its upcoming semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat.

Historic Chola Copper Plates Return to India
India has achieved a major cultural milestone with the return of the historic Chola-era copper plates from the Netherlands during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit.
The returned artefacts, internationally known as the Leiden Plates, are officially called the Anaimangalam Copper Plates and are considered one of the most important surviving records of the Chola Dynasty.
The collection includes:
- 21 large copper plates
- 3 smaller copper plates
These inscriptions date back to the reigns of Emperor Rajaraja Chola I and his son Rajendra Chola I between 985 CE and 1014 CE.
