In today’s live Physics class for NDA/CDS 2 2026 aspirants, the primary objective was to develop a strong conceptual understanding of the Magnetic Effect of Current, one of the most important and frequently tested topics in the examination. The session was designed to strengthen students’ fundamental knowledge by explaining the origin of magnetic fields due to electric current and their practical applications. Emphasis was placed on conceptual clarity rather than rote memorization so that students can confidently solve both theoretical and numerical questions asked in the NDA and CDS examinations.

The class began with a brief revision of electric current and magnetism to establish a connection between previously studied concepts and the new topic. Students were introduced to the historical discovery made by Oersted, demonstrating that an electric current produces a magnetic field. This was followed by an explanation of the nature and direction of magnetic field lines around a straight current-carrying conductor using the Right-Hand Thumb Rule. The significance of this rule in determining the direction of the magnetic field was discussed through multiple examples.

Further, the concepts of magnetic fields around circular current-carrying loops and solenoids were explained in detail, highlighting how increasing the number of turns and the magnitude of current affects the strength of the magnetic field.
