World Skyscraper Day 2026
World Skyscraper Day is observed annually on 3 September to celebrate the remarkable achievements of architecture and engineering that make the construction of extremely tall buildings possible.
The day is also associated with the birth anniversary of Louis H. Sullivan, an influential pioneer in the development of early skyscraper design.
What Is a Supertall Skyscraper?
According to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), a building reaching 300 metres (984 feet) or more is classified as a supertall skyscraper.
Constructing such buildings requires advanced engineering solutions because their enormous height creates special challenges involving:
- Foundation design
- Structural stability
- Wind resistance
- High-speed elevators
- Fire safety
- Vertical transportation
- Building materials and construction technology
Significance
World Skyscraper Day recognises the combination of innovation, engineering, architecture and human ambition behind some of the world’s tallest structures.
Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards 2024
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has announced the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards (TNNAA) 2024 to honour individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in adventure activities.
The award is named after Tenzing Norgay, one of the pioneering mountaineers associated with the successful ascent of Mount Everest.
Awardees
Four individuals have been selected for the 2024 awards:

Retired Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra Named Ram Temple Trust CEO
Retired Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra has been selected as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya.
Mishra brings more than three decades of experience in the Indian Air Force to the administrative position.
Selection Process
The appointment followed a recruitment exercise in which the trust reportedly received around 5,200 applications. From these applications, 18 candidates were shortlisted for the interview stage, which began in August.
Why Was the CEO Position Created?
The establishment of the CEO position is aimed at strengthening the trust’s administrative and financial management.
The appointment comes amid concerns regarding the management and security of donations associated with the Ram Temple project.

India To Host Inaugural Women’s Champions Trophy 2027
India is set to host the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 after the tournament was shifted from Sri Lanka.
The competition is scheduled to be held from 14 February to 28 February 2027.

Six teams will compete in the tournament:

Tournament Format
The six teams will compete in a round-robin league format, meaning each team will face every other participating team.
After the league stage, the top two teams in the standings will qualify for the final.

Hosting the first edition gives India an important opportunity to promote women’s cricket and strengthen its position as a major international cricket-hosting destination.
The relocation of the tournament from Sri Lanka was linked to concerns surrounding the administration of Sri Lanka Cricket and ongoing reform measures.
India to Host World Archery Para Series 2026
India will host the Hyundai World Archery Para Series 2026 for the first time. The event will be held at the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, from 5 to 9 September 2026.
The Ahmedabad tournament is Stage 3 of the 2026 World Archery Para Series.

The World Archery Para Series is an international para-archery circuit conducted under World Archery, the global governing body for the sport.

Indian Squad
A 29-member Indian squad underwent training at the SAI National Centre of Excellence in Gandhinagar from 23 August to 2 September 2026.
