New Delhi, October 31, 2026: Mrs Archana Dixit has taken charge as President of the Air Force Families Welfare Association (AFFWA), replacing Mrs Sarita Singh after the completion of her tenure. The transition marks a new phase for the association, which works with Indian Air Force families on welfare and support initiatives.
The handover brought an end to Mrs Sarita Singh’s period of leadership, during which AFFWA says she contributed to the expansion of welfare outreach and the strengthening of programmes aimed at the Air Force community. Her tenure was associated with efforts to reinforce support structures for families connected to the Indian Air Force.
Focus on vulnerable families
According to the report, Mrs Sarita Singh gave particular attention to Veer Naaris (war widows), children with special needs and families of Indian Air Force personnel. The welfare measures highlighted under her leadership were aimed at inclusivity, dignity, equal opportunities and support for those needing additional assistance.
AFFWA also said that under her leadership it worked to build upon existing welfare programmes while opening up new avenues for assistance, empowerment and community development. The stated objective was to ensure that welfare support reached the intended beneficiaries as family needs evolved over time.

During her tenure, the association also continued efforts to widen its reach and reinforce its role as a support system for serving personnel, veterans and their families. AFFWA has long been associated with educational, social and community-based initiatives for Indian Air Force families.
The association expressed appreciation for Mrs Sarita Singh’s leadership and described her contribution as one marked by dedication, compassion and a stronger welfare network within the Air Force community.

Leadership transition at AFFWA
With Mrs Archana Dixit now assuming office, AFFWA enters a fresh chapter in its continuing welfare mission. The organisation said it will carry forward its longstanding commitment to supporting and empowering Indian Air Force families.
The leadership change in AFFWA coincided with another development in the Indian Air Force on October 31, 2026, when Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh retired as the 28th Chief of the Air Staff and Air Chief Marshal Ashutosh Dixit became the 29th Chief of the Indian Air Force.
